Today marks the 1 year anniversary of DH and I getting "the call" saying that we were chosen to be DD's parents! It brings back so many memories! I just wanted to share!

Most people will never understand anniversaries like that. We are a few months from placement and will be relieved to have such things to celebrate, hopefully, a year from now.

Isn't it wild to think back about that time? I've been reminiscing about our "call" too and it makes me teary eyed.

Since I shared the anniversary, I should probably share the story of "the call" too. I'll give you the short version...basically, I had been at my job for 2 years and had answered the phone 2 times in the two years I had been there. I was a teacher, so I didn't have a reason to answer the office phone, but I was walking by and the phone was ringing off the hook at dismissal time, so I thought I'd help out. I answered it and you can imagine my surprise when it was our caseworker calling to give me the good news!! At first I was shocked that the phone was actually for me and then I was REALLY shocked at the content of the call! It makes me teary eyed just thinking of it!

Aw...that's such an awesome story. Thanks for sharing. Our adoption didn't happen in any traditional way. However, the first time I saw Hannah and held her was down the street from my house at the park. That was May 23, 2001. She came to live with us the next day. So we celebrate May 24th. We do a bigger celebration on Oct 7th. That was adoption day. Oct 7, 2002. And of course her b-day in March. I love having all of those days to celebrate her !!! (She seems to enjoy it too).
I do remember you getting matched and your daughter coming to you, but I don't think I ever knew the story of your phone call. That's wild!!!!

The 17th of April what I am calling My sister's anniversary. That was the Day I flew to Va to meet my sister. My birthmom and I are only 3 years apart. We bonded so much in the first week we met. I met her 8 days before our DS was born. I sent her flowers today to celebrate our sister anniversay. She really enjoyed it. Just little things like that keep the relationship special.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! Goosebumps! I love it - this is our version of what it was like the day a mom finds out she's pregnant!

Our call came Oct 7 2006 when I was out to lunch w/ a co-worker. He and his wife are adoptive parents had been references for us for our application. We'd had a failed match a few weeks before, so he took me to lunch so we could talk about it. Right after I told him I was feeling okay about it because it must have happend for God's reason, our SW called my cell because she'd been trying to reach my hubby and couldn't.

She told me a boy had been born the day before, was ready to come home the next day and we'd been chosen by his bmom!!!!! I think I grabbed my co-worker's hand, then hugged him after the call - right before he had to walk over to our company owners at another table to beg for a ride back to work so I could head right home - I bet he had some explaining to do!!!!!

It will forever be the most amazing day of my life..................... I still get tears......

Happy Anniversary!!
Ours is in a couple weeks. Our story is similar to storkwatcher. I was out to lunch with my best friend and her one week old son and the agency called and said there was a baby boy born the day before and did I want them to submit our profile. I said yes immediately. The sw wanted to know if I wanted to call DH first (we had always discussed before answering) I told her no. They called back within two hours and said that we had been chosen and needed to get to the hospital immediately.What a whirlwind.
