OT: Stuck for Nursery Decor Inspiration...Help!

So we had some cute wallpaper with stuffed toys on it that a previous owner put up that we were happy to keep, but a little guy we had on foster relief took exception to it and did a great part of what is (now necessary) wallpaper removal for us. Sigh.

I usually find redecorating fun, but I'm stuck for ideas for the nursery! Help! Tell me what you did! I can't even find bedding that I really like so far. I'm hoping what others did will inspire me.

We're hoping to get the bulk of the work done in June, so I'm just in the planning stages. I'm hoping for gender nuetral, affordable, and lean towards a more vintage look rather than bright colours and characters.

If you have photos, please post them! I haven't seen a thread on this in a while, so I think there must be a lot of (maybe?) newly decorated nurseries out there that you're proud to show off!

There is a baby room picture parade over in the China Adoptions forum. Here's the link:

I have photos of our nursery that I'm 99% finished with here. I can't sew... at all! But I used the iron stitch witch stuff to make the curtains. I found that when I went to the fabric store I got all kinds of ideas about what I could do for the nursery. Maybe you should go to a fabric store and start looking for ideas there. Then you could either sew things yourself or have someone help you...especially since you have till June.
I found myself changing my ideas about what I wanted to do after I saw all the fabrics. Also, go to EBAY and look up bedding in the baby section... all kinds of ideas there too. I bought the rug for the Baby's room there too.

Heart

I so enjoyed thinking about the babys room. My daughter was a newborn when we brought home. We did not know in advance that she would be a girl. But as all of us know when you go through the adoption process its a real emotional journey. So I went with Heart Moons and Stars.

The baby already had my heart and I would go all the way to the moon to get her and she is the brightest star in the gallaxy. The room was painted a pale yellow and once we got home with the most beautiful baby girl in the world I started adding more girly things into the room.

Good Luck

and enjoy the ride

I love all the nurseries!!!!! I really wanted to go with a cowboy/cowgirl theme but DH axed it. SO we compromised on Frogs.

I LOVE bright colors, so there really isn't a theme to our nursery it is just bright and fun.

I don't have any pictures but I do have two ideas:

1) You can buy the silver metallic refrigerator paint and paint it under your new paint and have a space where you can stick things like you do on the refrigerator. You can't even tell it is there - but you know like the magnet ABC's, etc. will just stick on the wall. It is so cute!

2) You can buy foam decorative puzzle padding pieces at Sam's, Wal-Mart, other places and place it on top of the floor. Makes for a softer padding, looks great, cleans easily, and saves your floor when they get to be a little older.

Good luck! I'm sure whatever you do will be precious.

Oh - one other idea. My brother hung the cutest things from the ceiling - stuffed animals and airplanes (for a boy).

this probably sounds crazy but I have decided to do my nursery technically with a farm animal theme because I like bright colors. But I really thought about something I loved to add a little more difficulty. So I decided that the room had to have goats in it. I had them as a child and they are not easy to find in everything.

Since we are at the begining of our adoption journey I figure I had a lot of time and need to keep myself busy. I have found a couple of really cute things!!

Silly? Yes, but fun to do, it is like a scavenger hunt because I can't just go the the nearest store and find what I need.

I am doing my nursery in a farm type theme but it's not REALLY western at ALL, its by Kimberly Grant called Farmyard, it's the ONLY unisex bedding that i LOVE, Primary bright colors, fun theme. And if you get those stuffed animals with the long legs (made by Bestever called Funny Feet) SOOO cute, then we put chair railing and painted the bottom part a honey yellow, the top part a cream, and the chair railing white, it is SOOO cute. We are still waiting for our crib then I will take a picture and show it, just wanted to give some ideas!! Oh, and I chose not to wallpaper, after taking that stuff OFF the walls i will NEVER put it up again ;-)!! Good luck!!

Natalie

P.s. I think the cutest rooms are those that have personality and flare, ones that aren't all perfectly matching, but a mix of unique items that kinda "go together" either by color or theme!
