To boycott or not
I am going to put my .02 in here after giving this a lot of thought. I want to start by re-stating that I think dropping the Non-traditional families board is horrendous.
Do we have to have an "official" non traditional families board to be gay friendly?? Can we provide the same info and support in another way?? The rules are pretty clear and as long as they are not violated, couldn't we continue to be the same supportive group that we alwalys have been?? I'm just afraid that if we all disperse, there will never be a place as safe, educational and supportive as this one and a lot will be lost. Entire lives have been changed due to input from this site. I'm just not sure it's as black and white as a strict boycott to another site that may just end up having a similar issue or worse. I'd like to hear other's thoughts about possible alternatives to just leaving the site. I know some ideas are scattered on the various threads. I just thought maybe we could start a fresh one with a renewed optimism (I hope)Martha |

I don't think there is any way this site can be gay friendly, given the events of yesterday. The rules are clear and I can't see where any were violated. Political activism occurs EVERYWHERE on this site. The problem is that this site is NOT safe and supportive for gays and lesbians. When does the censorship end. Which forum next? Transracial? Single parent? Given these events, it's not a stretch to imagine that there is another group who offends the sensibilities of the management. Here is my dilemma. If I stay, I feel like a hypocrite. If I go, I feel like they win and I've allowed them to silence me. I do not know the answer. I do know that I cannot in good conscience support a for-profit entity that blantantly discriminates.

My Opinion ....
... is to preserve the specialness we share - keep posting and include all on all sites ... boycotting or running is not the answer ... and I too feel for those directly affected but let's use that energy for strength in keeping our commitment to adoption itself and the support we offer and receive ... that is what is important!

I love this site and it has been an immense help to me! I have been educated so much and learned a ton in the few short months I have been coming here. I have just started waiting to be matched. I know I have a long road ahead of me and I know there will be tons of questions. I don't know what I would do without this site. I am appalled by what they have done, but I feel like I still need this site. I don't know what to do...
