Just to play devil's advocate - please don't flame me. This Hollywood "in thing" bothers me as much as anyone else, but ... might all this attention adoption is getting, have some good effects? If all the "cool" people are open to adoption, it is getting talked about more, and more people are becoming aware of adoption, possibly sparking conversations at home or in schools, and the more something is talked about, the less secrets there are to make something seem "bad" or "scary". Those of us who have been through adoption, know what is involved, the emotions on all 3 sides of the triad. But to those who haven't, they need to be educated. Just like any other sensitve topic, race, religon, whatever, if it can be talked about in an open, positive, educated & respectful manner, wouldn't it be bennificial?
Just throwing out another question to ponder. Millie

Millie-I kind of have to agree. I get upset about the flippant attitude that some (namely Jessica and Ashton) take toward it, saying they might or joking about it. But I have to say, since Angelina and Meg have adopted from other countries, people are taking notice. They see pictures of Maddox and Zahara and they seem to be loved and seem to be happy. When we adopted Dennis a few years ago, people were asking us if we'd just go buy a baby on thestreet, and telling us all the problems "those" kids have. It's gotten better.
I guess there is good and bad. I just don't like for the struggles that I went through to become a mom to be a joke to anyone. ![]()

Ashton is not the sharpest tool in the shed but the whole "adoption is the in thing" I am seeing in my very indudry heavy neighborhood. At this point 13 of the 25 kids on my block were adopted. I think in entertainment people are more accepting of different kinds of families and adoption is probably much more common then in other places.

One last comment on BC and infertility.......
Just a quick comment that may help clarify the birth control issue. Most IVF protocols (I went through 5) start with 6 weeks of the pill which levels out the hormones. I don't think that these specialists would be putting their patients on birth control if it had adverse effects on their fertility, and thus the doctor's success rate.
