Well today was the day. Our new DD was brought home by her aunt, uncle and grandpa
. Bmom and grandpa have signed their terminations (grandpa had custody but due to his age-85-can no longer take care of her and grandma just passed away in Jan). Birthdad is unwilling to sign but has no interest in the child. Our lawyer is filing everything tomorrow or Tuesday. He feels we will be able to finalize in the next 3 months. There will be a hearing where bdad will need to appear-if he does not, his rights can and may be terminated (that's what it says on the summons at least). Since we live 4 hours from him and he has no interest, we don't feel that he will show up. We had hoped that we could "start fresh" with him and establish some kind of contact, but he apparantely does not want to. We are so excited that she is home with us as the waiting has been hard for everyone. She seems to be doing well so far, but we are going to be seeing a counselor as a family and her alone to help her adjust to the losses in her life, as well as the blessing of a new family. I am hoping that all of you who are waiting don't have to wait long for your babies (or bigger kids) to come home to you.
