He'll crawl. But if you want to encourage him, put him oon the floor and then put enticing things a short distance away. He'll figure out how to get over there.

When we adopted my son, he could stand (at 10 months) but was a terrible crawler. While waiting to go home, I would take him to a park every day. He was fascinated by the leaves littering the grass and wanted to grab them. I would put him down in the grass, and move all of the leaves out of reach.

By the time we came home 10 days later, he was crawling like lightning! He crawled enthusiastically until he was one year, one week when he began to walk.

can't remember when she first crawled. for dd, the motivation was key. she hated being on her back from the time she was born. she constantly tried to stand and finally took her first steps not holding onto anything at 10 months, 7 days. Of course her motivation was that she hated relying on us, lol. A control freak from the beginning, she wants to do everything herself. Had she not have been such a controller, she'd have taken her time doing whatever. from what i've seen with dd, it just depends on their needs and temperment as well as their abilities.

btw, we take a class and there's one kid who is almost 14 months and doesn't walk. he can, he just chooses to do this crosslegged scoot that is riot to watch. He's a very happy camper, much more content with his life than dd is, lol.

good luck!

Lisa

Castle never crawled, she scooted on her butt and pulled along with her legs. Funniest thing I have ever seen. She never pulled up and didn't even remotely act like she would ever walk until one day when she was almost 16 months. Our oldest son was playing with her and she just walked to him like she had been doing it all along and has not slowed down since. It's different for every baby but when it does happen you will wonder why you were in such a rush!

Our son, 16 months (15 months corrected) scootches on his butt everywhere. He pulls himself up if there is something he wants and will surf furniture, but honestly has no desire to walk.

He moves so quickly on his butt.....

I guess he will do it when he is ready.
