Gripe Water............

Where can I buy it? When I search online, it only comes up with places to order it from. Is there a store I can buy it from? Any other suggestions for colic would be greatly appreciated as well!

You can find it at your local health food store. I looked for it in all our drugstores here and couldn't find it. I tried calling the health food stores and they had it.

We only used a homemade remedy for colic....fennel tea. It is easy to make. Take 8 oz of boiling water and add 4 teaspoons fennel seed. Let it "brew" for a few minutes. The water will turn green. Let cool and give to the baby. Our son would drink about an ounce or 2 at a time. Nothing more. I just made the full 8 oz so we had it, kwim? Anyway....it works amazingly! I've given this recipe to many online and IRL friends and everyone swears by it. I've seen Gripe water in Buy Buy Baby, too, btw.

Good Luck!

I thought I just ready something about fennel not being a good herb for babies, but can't remember where or what possible side effects/reactions there might be. Just research it first. it sounds like it worked fine for Renee.

Friends of our used catnip tea, as recommended by their baby's great-grandma. I think steeped similar to the fennel tea.

Also, check out the book The Happiest Baby on the Block.

Smile Baby Bliss

We use Gripe Water with our youngest foster son. It was a LIFESAVER. We had better luck with the Baby Bliss brand - it was well worth ordering from our local health food store. Good luck!!

Here in Canada, it is sold at pharmacies.

Also, as a general colic reliever - try a white noise machine (available at WalMart or the like for cheap). Well actually, first see if your vacuum cleaner calms the baby down -- if it works, invest in the white noise machine.

Our baby would only sleep for 45 minutes at a time until we found out that a fuzzy radio station would lull him for hours ...

don't spend money on a white noise machine if you have a portable radio or even a radio alarm clock. Just set it between stations so all you get is static.

Andy - yes that is a DEFINITE possibility for those of us that dont live in mega cities and what we did when living in the thriving "VILLAGE" of 1000 that we did with our first child ... and then we visited Vancouver. And realized that THEY DONT HAVE FUZZY RADIO stations -- and thus, the $15 for the white noise machine. Which really, I loved

i happen to use gripe water and think that it is the best thing ever. our third baby was so colicy and our doctor happen to be from canada. she got some for me and it worked wonders. he pretty much lived on the stuff. it it just a combination of sodium bicabonate, dill seed oil and peppermint. it works for everthing. i still use it now on my 7th and always have a bottle on hand. unfortunatly i dont know where in the states you can get it i still have my doctor get it for me. if you cant find it let me know and i will send you some.

I used gripe water. I found it in a local health food store. Grocery stores like Whole Foods have it too.

Our pediatrician, who is from Poland, told me about fennel tea when my son was about 6 weeks old. Worked great...
