Have you seen this magazine?

Do any of you subscribe to Adoptive Families Magazine? I had never heard of it until someone recently told me about it and I haven't read a copy yet. I was wondering if anyone gets and would recommend it.

Thanks!

I just got my "trial" issue and it looks GREAT. I think I am going to start subscribing. I wish it came out more often, I think it is bi-weekly. You might search the name of the magazine and see if you can find a free trial issue so you can see for yourself. If not, pm me with your address and I'll send you one of the cards out of the magazine I got.

I get it and really enjoy it. I am trying to decide if I should keep copies because there are topics I know I can't appreciate or don't need yet.

I buy it all the time. They carry it in our local Barnes & Noble and also at Border's.

I just bought my first subscription. I've received two copies so far and they've had some good information. I found that there was a little too much about international adoption which I'm not doing. Could have just been those two issues.

It is a good magazine, but rather expensive ($6 an issue) if bought one by one.

Thanks for the info. I have a free issue card and I will probably try it. I was wondering if it would have more international information. I don't have a lot of time for reading and really like the Parents Magazine I get, and am not sure if I want to subscribe to another. It does sound worth checking out.

Thanks again!

A friend of mine, an adoptive parent herself, recommended Adoptive Families magazine. I started subscribing even before we were matched and I love it! I do save my copies because there are some age-specific things in there that I know I'll appreciate when Jacob is older. Also, I personally don't think they dwell too much on international adoptions (well, maybe their agency ads do, but that's not why I buy the magazine). I'm doing domestic adoptions and I still find the information in the magazine useful.

I think you'll like it Stacy!

I've been reading it since we started out research - it's been really enlightening - topics we'd never thought about - something we will file away in our library for later on...

PS - they also put our the Adoption Guide which has a lot of agency info, domestic info, country info, etc. We're still in the research, muddling through phase so that's been helpful when i need a quick answer to a question. You can order it off of their website.

Magazine

STRONGLY recommend it. Particularly because my children were featured in the photo section! Seriously, though, a wonderful magazine . . the best I've seen relating to adoption issues.

I have subscribed to it for two years now and love reading it. I wish it actually came more often than every couple of months. It's full of great information for all types of adoption and for all ages of children. I highly recommend subscribing to it!

I love the mag, but am sad it doesn't come out often enough. Anyone can go online to the website and get backlogged articles from way back for free, though. If you havent seen the real mag yet, I would recommend going there and see what kinds of things are in it.
