Adoptive Parenting Blog Topics Anyone?
Hi again everyone. I'm soliciting topics that adoptive parents might want to see discussed over at my Blog at adoptionblogs.com
I have a prepared list of topics, but, I'd like to be responsive to the intended audience and not drone on about the issues I think are important and interesting, when there may be others more pressing. So. Let me know what kinds of topics you'd like for me to Blog about, particularly the ones that would prompt you to come and visit the Blog and leave a response. I also want to post useful links and resources, but, it is not my intention to post them as "the expert," I'd prefer to get your feedback on what is useful and what is not. Hope to hear from folks soon. At the very least stop by and check out the Blog and my bio and consider being a regular visitor. Thanks Dr. G. |

Hello Dr. G.
Perhaps this question could also be addressed to the administrators, but I thought I'd ask you as well. I'm wondering about the purpose of a 'adoptive parent blog.' It seems as if it is intended to supplement, or formalize, the forums and that the forums are at least one of the sources of information/discussion for the blog?

Well, my understanding is that the blogs will just be one more source of information and another place to exchange thoughts and opinions. I know I can write in greater depth and detail on my blog than I can here on the forums. Also, I can set up my blog to be fairly sophisticated in terms of various categories and subcategories, pings, links, backtracking and all that techy stuff. It's just another venue. That's all.
Nice to meetcha! |

I guess the reason I'm asking is that the 'word' doesn't seem to be out to the community. The regulars here post topics of interest/concern and all members of the triad participate in the discussions. It seems as if the questions and topics you're posing are the very ones that are discussed in this format on a regular basis. I've noticed the relative lack of responses and I'm formulating hypotheses as to why. I think that one of the reasons may be the very one that I posed above -- people are unsure of the purpose and may not feel the need to re-address questions that are already being discussed. If you're trying to increase the participation, it occurs to me that if you participate here as a member, responding to others' threads, you'll become "known" and a part of the community. I don't think it's clear to people whether you're an "expert" or a participant.
I DO think the blog will be very informative -- just trying to help get it off of the ground.

ah. i got it. hmm. well, i guess i'll just plug along here and see what happens. i love writing. and always have plenty to say, no matter the forum. but i get the biggest kick out of reading what others have to say. so, i'll just keep posting here on the forums and the blog. kinda like spaghetti against the wall. eventually something's gotta stick. thanks for the advice!
