Does your employer offer adoption assistance?

Hello all,

I am currently trying to get my husband's employer to offer adoption assistance. I have been asked to compile a list of names of other employers or insurance carriers that do cover this. I would be so appreciative if you could email me with the name of your company and the coverage they provide.
You can email me at:
tamijt@netzero.net.

Thank you so much!
Tami

Check out the Dave Thomas Foundation.. They sent us a folder on how to ask, what to present and a bunch of info on employer adoption benefits.. I think they also had a list of companies who offer adoption benefits..

My DH works at United Technologies and they offer 3,000, unfortunately he started there after we finalized. So if we adopt again Otis will give us 3,000 plus the 10,000 back in taxes....hmmm!

Tami, I just wanted to mention that the list indicates Johns Hopkins University. My DH works for Johns Hopkins Hospital and they also offer reimbursement (it's the same place, but others may not know that). We are able to get $3K after finalization.

Not on the list (I put in to add) - UnitedHealth Group, my current employer.

I work for a Thomson company and we get 8 weeks paid parental leave and $5000 adoption expenses reimbursement both of which are new benefits not available for our first adoption.

I used the link above, through the DTF, and it was very helpful. I emailed them and they got back to me directly, immediately, with three very specific lists. One with companies in the state that offer adoption assistance, and two others in the specialties that my company was (manufacturing and health materials). It helped.

Then I changed jobs.
They offer assistance here, but I won't be here long enough to have the privelege of using it.. It is good to know that they offer it though.

DTF is extremely thorough and helpful. The people were great to work with, they'll send you out a packet of stuff to get a proposal together. And a cd with a template for it. It is done for you. You just have to make it fit you and your company.

Good luck!

my husband works for a large aerospace company (we call it the Citadel of Death and Destruction ) and they offer $2000. not much but better than all the other aerospace companies, who offer zilch (according to the dtf list.)

we're lobbying to have the benefit increase and are using dtf materials. fingers crossed!

I encourage everyone to lobby their company to add or increase this benefit. looks good and costs them little.

from what I've read, some companies offer up to $15000-amazing.

I didn't see mine on the list. I used to work for Ohio Health (a group of several hospitals in central Ohio). I believe they offered $3000 reimbursement for a full-time employee and $1500 for part time. (Going off memory here).

Good luck!
