PBM Gift
My DH, daughter and I are going to visit our PBM the end of February for her birthday. We have gotten the okay that simple gifts are okay. What I'd like to give her is I'd like to pack a hospital bag for her and give this to her as a gift. She doesn't have much so I'd like to get her a cozy pair of pjs, some slippers, a magazine or two and some fun girly stuff. What do you all think? Do you think this is a good idea or totally crazy? Is there any other ideas on what I could put it in?
Thanks!

Our agency was very careful about gift giving. We pretty much did the same thing. We took her a robe and slippers along with a deck of cards, some hard candies that I knew she liked, and some mags. I think I was so worried about it looking too much like bribery so I don't think I even put it in anything other than the shopping bag it came in. We actually took it with us when we went to pick up our son's bmom to be induced. When they got her to a room, I just handed her the bag and said here are a few things we picked up for you to make the hospital stay a little more comfortable. They weren't anything fancy. I picked it all up at Target. It was a good thing we had it, because she didn't bring anything with her.
Good luck! Kim |

I think it's a great idea. I would have loved to receive a gift like that.

I think it would be a thoughtful gift....esp. the magazines as it can get very boring.

Thanks for all your advice...I too don't want to come across as bribing her but she doesn't have much. I really want her stay to be comfortable. I just thought it would be a thoughtful gift for her...trying to show her we care about her and how she's feeling. Thanks again!

I think it's a wonderful idea. I was thinking of bringing our pbmom a pampering kit... she has been expressing concern about her stretch marks (new for her.. I told her at least it's from pregnancy, not just from being a chubster like me!!! She laughs at me.)
But I'd like to get her a gift basket with cocoa butter and shea butter for the stretch marks since they are bothering her. I love your idea of packing a bag for her and getting her something nice and comfortable for her. I love your idea. Very kind of you. |

We brought our son's birthmother a "comfort" gift when she was in the hospital. Similar with slippers and a robe and a basket from Bath & Body Works. We also brought her flowers and she loved it all. I think you are being very kind and considerate and IMO she will apreciate it all.

I think it is a wonderful idea! As long as your agency says that it is not too much I think it is very nice and thoughtful. Since your agency specified small, I would run the idea by them to make sure it is not to big of gesture.
