anyone use PP and an agency?

we are researching using parent profiles in addition to our agency, just to get more exposure...has anyone done this? what i like about our agency is the support and screening they provide to expecting moms...that way, any moms that are unsure or god forbid, any scams are weeded out. i was just thinking about doing it for a few months...any thoughts? experiences? thank you!

We used PP in addition to our attorney twice. The first time we got about 2 emails/month. The second time we got maybe 2 in 8 months. If I were you, I would give it a try. I think the second time we used it there were a couple of "problems"...we already had one child and maybe alot of bmoms are looking for parents with no other children. Also, our first adoption is semi-open with very little actual contact. We mentioned that in our letter and I think it turned off alot of people. The contacts we got the first time around didn't work out mainly because they were looking for very open situations (phone calls, visits, etc). We just weren't comfortable with that. Like I said, though, I think it's worth it to try for a few months. You never know what kind of response you'll get until you try. Good luck!

thank you!!!

i emailed my agency to get their feedback...i dont want to start sending hoards of people to them to go through (haha, look at me being sooo optomistic!) without warning. i just didn't know if you usually would talk to the pbparents for a while first before sending them to the atty/agency...not sure how that part works. but thank you so much for your response! i live in florida, and noticed there is only one other family from there on PP...so i think we may give it a shot.

We also used ParentProfiles in addition to our agency. We received some good leads through PP, but ultimately got matched through our agency. I do think the exposure is good, though, and it is worth a try!

Good luck,

As far as talking to bparents before referring them to the agency...When we got emails from birthparents from PP, we emailed them back to say we were interested (or not) and answer whatever questions they had asked. Some never emailed again, so that was that. If they did stay in contact, they usually asked questions that were best handled by the attorney, so I would ask them to call the attorney. I think only one couple actually got that far and, long story, that one didn't work out.
