Target Adoption Jewelry

Wanted to let you know what I saw today - a first in my memory. Target is carrying adoption related jewelry!

There are bracelets and necklaces and I saw one necklace/earring set. Let's see if I can remember some of the messages:

One set of 2 heart necklaces with the words Together and Forever.
Heart necklace with Loved.
Heart necklace with a Bible verse from John, "I will not leave you orphans..."
A couple of charm bracelets.

I know, some of these are cheesy and certainly not the same as some of the beautiful things to be found online. At this point the quality is pretty cheap too but I bought one anyway, just to show my support. If we don't support these first steps, "they" won't see a market and bring more substantial products to stores.

Wanted to let everyone know!

I also noticed all of targets adoption things last month. The store by me had quite a few different displays of adoption jewerly, books, and teddy bears throughout the store. It is so great to see them carry all that. I even wrote to them telling them how much I appreciated their awareness of National Adoption Month (I saw it in November). Glad to see others have seen it too!

I also saw that they had books and bought one for my amom. I was soo happy to see that finally adoption is not a dirty secret anymore. Now if I could only find some bmom cards, that would be awesome. Yay!

Target's HQ is in Minneapolis, and they are big supporters of adoption--I believe I heard that the CEO is an adoptive parent. I'm sure they would love to hear the feedback about continuing and expanding their adoption items.

Target (online) has carried, since 2003, a painting/artwork of a Mother and a child that is adoption related. It's a very beautiful piece that, when we finally BUY a house (*grumbles* stupid market) we will be purchasing.

Where were the jewelry items located in the store? By the other adoption stuff or in the jewelry department?

I was so happy to see Target acrrying some adoption-related books, etc last year and it seems that every time I check they are adding a little to their display. Good for them!!!

I'm gonna go look tomorrow for something for my daughter and I . I know Target online sells those beautiful pictures called Angels in Adoption. I've meant to order one....maybe for my February birthday.

Ok, today I went to 2 different Targets here in San Antonio. Neither had book, jewlery, pix or anything else about adoption. I'll look on line after the holidays. Wonder if its a regional thing?

In our store they were located near the cards and gift wrap, not the jewelry. I happened upon them looking for some raffia.

Jenna, I'm going to check out the online store now for the picture.

I'm begining to find more books (again, by accident in a target not too long ago) in addition to the jewelry and such...

I do wish, though, that some of it was from an adoptee's or, particularly, a birthmother's prospective. It's hard to find commerative stuff out there for a birthmother- maybe I just don't know where to look...have you seen anything? I would very much like to find something!
