First, welcome to the forum! Glad you are here, and I'm sure you'll find lots of great information. We all have experiences with adoption, but to answer your question is a bit hard. It depends on what type of adoption you are looking at.
Start with research. Read a few books like "adoption for dummies" or others. Once you have narrowed down the paths you think you are intersted in, make phone calls to agencies and attorney. Interview them and ask lots of questions. If you are looking for people here who have adopted and used a certain lawyer or agency you can search through the agency feedback thread (I think its the first one posted on the menu), or post a thread about a specific agency or attorney. Help us out so we know a little more about you: What state are you in? Are you looking for domestic or international? What ages are you open to adopting? I have lots of other ??'s but that will give us a start on where you are coming from. Good luck in your research and road to your child! Blessings!!

Thank you for listening, we really appreciate all the help you can give us. We live in NY, have gone through fertility problems, so we chose to adopt and are looking for domestic adoption. We want an infant, right from hospital. We are homestudy ready, we wanted to be ready to adopt as soon as we can, we have been marriad for 7yrs and really can't wait to start a family, We brought a bigger house w/backyard. If you have other questions, please ask, would appreciate all the help.

I also wanted to say welcome!!
A lot depends on what you are open to. Things like race, special needs, drug exposure, smoking, level of prenatal care, involvement or lack of involvement by the birthfather. Do you want an open adoption or a closed one? Those choices that you make early on will help determine your direction. Did you say you already have a homestudy?? The agency who did your homestudy may be an excellent resource for what is available in your area. Keep us posted, Martha |

The agency who did our homestudy, is not very helpful, so I fugured we should explore our agencies.
We are looking for causian or half hispanic, open or closed is fine. No drugs or special needs. We are just looking for other options and see if there are other agencies who could help us,.so if you know of a really good agency, please let me know, I really appreciate it, Dani |
