ot True Confessions (or the stupidest thing you've ever done...)

ugh. So I'm making dinner late saturday night, having put dd to bed after her first birthday party (all they served were hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, koolaid, and cheetos -for 2 year olds and younger ). Anyway, I made a nice veggie patty, laced it with a ton of fresh veggies and condiments, then took a huge bite. Wrong move, _forgot_ it was hot . Chunk molds to the top of my mouth, I'm trying to dislodge it with my tongue, finally have to pry it out with my fingers. Spend several hours sucking on ice. Finally go to doc today, where she says i have 2nd degree burns (and many blisters) on the roof of my mouth . nothing to be done, except confess my stupidity. I have to say that I'm pretty hard on dh when he's this stupid, so I felt I'd step forward and say that with all my education, and after trying to teach dd what "hot!" means, I need to learn that myself. So sad.

on the plus side, _everything_ i eat hurts, so I'm eating much less. Should lose a pound or two this week. Doc says it will continue to hurt like ---- while it heals. (sigh).

so I thought I'd feel better by reading other people and the stupidest things they've done-please share, if only to make me feel better. And no posting that this is the stupidest thing you've heard either, since that won't make me feel better .

Hi Lisa. That must hurt so bad. I am really sorry. We all do stupid stuff.

Christmas day when my son was 2, I was trying to get one of his toys out of the box. It had those stupid plastic things that latch the toy to the box. Well I had the great idea to remove them with sisscors. Would have been fine if my finger wasn't in the way. I cut a large chunk out of my left index finger. Luckily, Cory's dad came about 5 minutes later to pick him up for the day.

My sister came and picked me up. We went to the Urgicare, but it was closed due to Christmas, so we headed for the hospital. It ended up taking us 3 hours to get done there. They could not stich it because there was nothing to stitch to. They put in this dissolving clotting thing that filled the hole. They wrapped me up and I was on my way. Needless to say it put a damper on my Christmas.

The good thing that came from it was two days later I met my husband. My finger was taped up and I looked stupid, but it was a great conversation starter.

I hope you feel better!!

Wink So many things I did as a kid!!! What a brat I was!!

Oh, Lisa...I bet your mouth hurts!!!

The stupidest things I did was as a kid..Can't think of anything I did as an adult. Hope my kids don't read this one day...

1. I used to egg our neighbors house all the time and I even used crayons on it once..

2. We would order Pizza's and have them send it to a neighbors house that didn't even order it..

3. Called 911 (stupid me) and hung up! They called back and said if I did it again they would send the cops out to get me...

4. My friend had a horse at her house. We didn't like one of the neighbor girls, so we put horse poo on her front step to her door, rang the door bell and took off! She answered the door and stepped in it!!! hehe!!!

5. My brother and I were playing hide and seek while our parents were out. I noticed that he hid in the dryer. I shut the door and turned it on!!! He went around a few times and then I opened the door. He was PO.. We still talk about that story today!!!

I am sure there are more but you get the idea. What a stupid and brat kid I was...

I did all of this in 6th and 7th grade...

Stupid things

Well (unlike Cathy) I don't have to go back to my childhood Just last week I washed my cell phone in the washing machine - managed to take it out before I put it in the dryer though

When I had four kids in carseats I managed to lock them all in the car and had to call the cops to get them out

I backed the car over my unbrella stroller

I forgot to bring my friend's kid home from soccer practice when I said I would (last week)

I got into someone elses car and tried to fit my key into the ignition outside of my kids school (it looked just like mine and was parked 2 spaces away)

Are you feeling better yet??

This is all I can come up with on such short notice but if you give me a few more minutes I'm sure there will be many MANY more

Martha

Martha and I seem to live a very similar life because I have also backed over an umbrella stroller and tried to get into someone elses car when mine was parked just a couple of spaces away. But the most painful stupid thing I have ever done is see something on the blade of my triple blade razor and try to wipe it off with my finger. That made a lovely triple cut that hurt like wildfire and burned every time anything came close to it. Sigh..........if we're gonna be stupid we gotta be tough.

Oh Lisa, you poor thing! Nothing hurts worse than a burn. And right inside your mouth...OW!

Let me make you feel better.

I backed the car out wrong last year and scraped the heck out of my car fender with the stucco on the garage. It cost us $700 to fix.

I sent my mother flowers the day after her birthday. Then I called her and sang Happy Birthday...again, on the wrong day.

I know I can come up with more. Just give me a few minutes to pare down the list to a manageable size!

I too have so many more.

Martha I'm like you. I too got into someone else's van this summer. Tried to start it and everything!!

When Cory was a baby I lucked the keys in the car....three times in one week!

I have forgotten to drop Cory off at daycare or summer camp a couple of times. Luckly I remebered before I left him in the car.

One day I was going home from the mall and got on the highway going north, but my house is south.

ok, you guys are scaring me.. can you imagine how these would look on dear Birbirthmother letters !

Last year I left my convertible outside when a side sweeping, unbelievable, thunderstorm hit. 2" of rain fell. OK: So that is not actually the dumbest thing. The dumbest thing was leaving it outside to dry and it rained again $1,600 and new electrical later it's all better.

I think I finally thought of one as an adult...
We just bought our house that we live in now, 4 years ago. When we bought it, it had this HUGE shelf that was wasted space. Anyway, I was pulling out of the garage, looking back to pull out and my SUV wouldn't move.. I thought what the heck. I got out of the truck and realized that the shelf was leaning and my front, right bumper was hanging, ripped and caught on the shelf!!! I totally freaked out and didn't know what to do. I pulled the bumper away from the shelf and got my truck out of there fast!!!! I was so lucky that the whole shelf didn't fall on top of the hood of my truck.. It costs over $1,000.00 to fix it and my hub said it wasn't a big deal!!! My dad would of freaked out if my mom did that...

thank you ladies, I feel much better now ROFLAO.

quiescentfury: ouch! why do things like that always happen on a holiday?

cathy102: I did most of those things, but was much older, about 10th grade. I also did much more, like drive after drinking, after smoking, okay, let's just say "driving under the influence" and leave it at that . I chalk that up to being a kid and the fact that it was the 1970s. Stopped driving under the influence at age 18, so I survived my teen years.

Martha: what a riot! yes, I'm feeling much better. My fav: locking the kids in the car and having to call the cops on yourself-too funny.

kitti: I've done that too! omg, so sad.

coco46: has your mom forgiven you yet? wow. that's bad, sorry, but in my family, that's gonna cost ya.

poolside: total bummer with the convertible. I've seen that sort of thing in the parking lot her in CA. so sad.

you guys have definitely made me feel better. I'm starving but I'm tired of smoothies, yogurt, and popsicles (small whine inserted here). For just a moment I felt like I had company in the stupid bin .

Lisa: I don't suppose marshmallows are in a food group, but I bet they'd taste good and be gentle.. My mouth hurts just thinking about it.

LOL, yes, she forgave me. Luckily (for me, not her) my brother forgets every year and has never even gotten her so much as a card since we were little kids, so I escaped with a sniffle or two and a heavy sigh.

coco46: wow, a mom sigh. those are sooo loaded with so much baggage! I lucked out with an older sister who was "disappointing" too. makes life ever so much easier...all I had to do was not get arrested or something and I was the favorite .

poolside, thanks for the suggestion. Dh is making a soft and squishy food run for me later so I'll add them to the list. I'm holding off eating dd's baby food, but that may be what I resort to eating. I understand the fruit ones aren't so bad, but I think I'll skip things like "corn and butternut squash" or "broccoli and cauliflower" .

uh oh, just read that they contain animal products-don't normally eat them and can't remember when I've eaten a marshmallow, but bummer. Maybe there's a veggie marshmallow...Whole Foods to the rescue!
