So Many Great Ideas!!!

Part of my nesting need was to get nursery ready before we were matched. For me it gave me "hope" that "this is going to happen eventually". We painted a pretty yellow and then a crib set / valance that was creamy color with lots of different cloth patterns of silk and plush. Then as we are HUGE horse people I got a lot of horse art. There is a artist Sarah Richards that I like so I got 2 of her pieces, then I filled in with some others I already had. Lots of color. Enjoy! There are so many adorable themes, it's hard to pick just one!

Here's a couple of non-pastel Mickey Mouse bedding sets...this one is more boyish...but if the walls were maybe yellow?

Thanks for the compliments on the nursery everyone. It looks much better now with curtains but I do not have a picture of that. TO make the dots I used plates, platters and glasses to trace around and then painted the pattern. I just bought the three shades of green that come on one paint card to get perfectly matched shades. I added the blue when we found out we were getting a boy. I made the wall the crib was going on have way more dots than the rest. Pretty easy for someone who is creative but not at all artistic.

Casey, the doctor suess is so cute!

Yes, those dots are AWESOME. I wish I'd seen those earlier.

And Pottery Barn Kids has WONDERFUL things. I agonized of whether or not to get that red/blue/green ABC's and animals set. I love it.

We're currently in the waiting mode for our first. Although the agency advised not getting the room completely ready, I like to be prepared and my hubby panicked a couple of months into it and thought we should at least paint it, just in case, as he didn't want fumes to harm the baby if we got an early call.

We live in an old farmhouse, and one wall was paneled previously. I took my theme from a childhood favorite character of mine, Babar the Elephant. To make it easy, we painted 3 walls yellow and then painted the 4th in stripes of green (3 shade of light greens, following the vertical lines in the paneling). We painted 2 old dressers - white w/ green knobs. No changing table - will put the curved changing pad on one dresser. Borrowed white crib/bassinet from sis. Purchased a few baskets w/ yellow and white and green and white ginham liners That's it so far. All we have to do at the end is frame and hang the Babar prints and posters we have which have the yellow and greens in them, plus accent it red.

Yellow and green happen to be 2 of my favorite colors, so I really like it! As a bonus, it ended up completely inexpensive!

This is a great thread. I love seeing everyone's ideas. I am not big on pastels so I went with red gingham. JC Penny's has cute bedding in all colors. I decorated in a western theme and added some blue also.

I didn't want pastels either, so we used the Kidsline "Zanzibar" bedding. If you haven't seen it, it's basically jungle animals in earthtone colors.

We've made our decision!!

If selecting our nursery theme was a game show, then Casey would be our big winner. Thanks to everyone else for your ideas ("We've got some lovely parting gifts for you.") We have decided to go with a Dr Seuss theme. Now the fun starts. We've got to get busy painting, and sewing. I can't find any bedding so I'm starting from scratch. It's going to be a lot of work, but I'm super excited! It's perfect for us. And dh is actually excited about it. It's the first theme that didn't make turn up his nose. I'm so glad you all convinced me to start working on the nursery while we're waiting. I've got something new to concentrate on instead of focusing on the wait.

We took our first trip to BabiesRus yesterday. Yikes! Nobody told me how overwhelming that was going to be! There were 3 rows just of strollers!! Good grief! But for the first time being surrounded by pregnant women didn't upset me. Instead I felt like I was an expectant mom just like all the rest of them. If I'm decorating a nursery, that must mean that I have a baby on the way, right? It's very reassuring.

So many choices to make!

Thanks again for all the great ideas. I'll send pictures eventually when we get our room finished.

Kelli

Kelli--snicker, snicker! And I don't know why I said I'd post my pics...it's clearly "girl" right now, but the wall color could go either way. And the bedding isn't Classic Pooh-but we have some wall hangings that are.
Casey--good thing you have the choice of accepting your prize or not!
Court--love your nursery! To have your pics show in the post, upload one per post. Multiple pics show as links.
