This Is Your Life

Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
Yesterday is a promise that you've broken
Don't close your eyes, don't close your eyes,
This is your life
And today is all you've got now
And today is all you've ever had
Don't close your eyes

This is your life, are you who you want to be?
This is your life, are you who you want to be?
This is your life, is it everything that you dreamed
that it would be when the world was younger,
and you had everything to lose?

Yesterday is a kid in the corner
Yesterday is dead and over

This is your life, are you who you want to be?
This is your life, are you who you want to be?

Going home tomorrow!

Everything is going well and we will be going home tomorrow! Since I have doing so well, they gave me the choice to go home today, but against my usual nature I decided to take them up on the extra day in the hospital. I was a nice chance to work on some feeding issues and stuff. Boy, do I have a ton of respect for all those amoms inducing lactation. Breastfeeding is hard even when you don't have to jump through all those hoops! But, things are going much better and we are excited to go home tomorrow!

On the adoption front, my dh got email from our SW today wondering if we still wanted our profile shown or if we wanted a break to get settled for a bit. He told her to go ahead and keep showing it, we are ready for #2 whenever the are ready for us! So, we'll see what happens. I no longer anxious about the adoption rollercoaster, but if something comes along we would be thrilled.

Take care everyone and Thanks again for all the support! You all have truly been a blessing in my life!

Chris -- big happiness on you going home on Friday -- yes, bfeeding is quite a drama in the beginning and then it's so wonderfully simple as you get going with it. The milk is always the right temp -- no sterilizing -- no measuring. . . all the best for your babe. When your milk comes in it's almost frightening (at least for me it was) but then, you'll settle in, once your breasts get used to being so busy! (remember that lanolin is realllllly your friend for a few days and use it liberally!).

I agree about amoms doing adoptive nursing. I tried with my son but we had almost no notice and he didn't suck strongly, ever - - then I realized I could share a lot easier if we were all involved and never looked back. . . and I am a BIG proponent of nursing -- my dd bfed until she was 2 and a half.

Stacie -- so cool that your signing and presentation went well. I knew it would, but it can be nerve-wracking to anticipate. Kudos to you for enjoying it all!

Just had a wonderful talk with J (pbmom). Her dh is back in her life (bf -- they've figured out it's only him as the bf, whew) and he's a little behind on the trust we've established, so she needed to talk to me about how we really feel about a few issues. Our conversation was great and such a relief to me. When she called me at 4:20 (never calls during the week and NEVER that early), I thought, OMG, this is "IT"! -- but it wasn't and the call was so comforting to us both.

Time to get things going around here -- hi to all -- susan

Staci-I will pm you the pictures, as I feel that we don't always have such nice wonderful people reading these forums.

Susan, so happy that your pbmom and pbdad both seem to be on board. That is so wonderful and so important.

Well, update on Big D, she has been kissing my A$$!!!! LOL It has been funny...she has been so nice and sweet to me yesterday and today! Maybe she is finally taking her meds

PS> Any ideas for headache relief while pregnant, I seem to get more and more headaches and more and more pain

Summer- If you rub ice into your palm in a circular motion between the thumb and index finger...it will relieve a headache. Also water....50 % of headaches are from dehydration. Hope you feel better soon.

Chris-how is PJ Doing?

Susan- 3 weeks or so right?

Cathy-Is everything OK, I noticed you changed your greeting and avatar, I like the teapot
Sure miss ya around here. Hope the kids are OK and the pink eye is Finally Gone!!!

We're home!

So far, so good. We got home this afternoon. PJ is doing wonderfully. He has been a pretty easy baby so far. He is fussing now (probably hungry), but he keeps eating just a little then settles for an hour and wants to eat again. The last couple nights he has done this through the night , so I am just going with the flow for now in hopes that he will have it out of his system by the time I am ready for bed. When he gets really hungry he gets all upset and snorts like a pig (between wails). Although, I feel bad he is so upset, I usually end up laughing so hard that I can hardly control myself. I end up having to give him a bit of a bottle just to calm him down enough to finish feeding. My parents came by for a while once we got home. They are so excited to be grandparents (even more than they thought they would be).

Here is his picture in his going home outfit. It was a little big, but it was 3-6 month size!

Chris -- your posts and photos make me smile. . . what a homecoming for allll of you. Babies coming home make really the best days and often, the most challenging. They don't have ANY idea what they want and we don't truly know what we are doing -- but you do sound so patient with PJ. Enjoy every second, susan

PJ with my sister

My sister drove all the way down to visit us in the hospital by herself! She just got her license last week and we live in the city 1 & 1/2 hours from my parents. I can't believe she is getting so old (she turned 18 yesterday)! She told me it was really important to her since she never got to meet her bio sister's babies in person. (Long story, but her bio sister has drug/alcohol issues and had twins a couple of years ago. They were removed from her care by DCF by the time they were 2. ) My sister has her own set of issues, but every now and then she amazes me with her insight!
