Help with an unethcial facilitator

Does anyone have information about how to report or take action against a facilitator who is behaving unethcially and with poor business practices (in CA)? We would like to get justice for ourselves, but we also would like to do what we can to help others. Feel free to pm if you are more comfortable. Thanks so much

hi,

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with a facilitator. We live in CA I don't think facilitators are regulated in california (or at least significantly regulated-I know they have to post a bond and disclose they are not an agency). you might contact the atty general's office in CA and see if they can do anything. I wish you luck.

btw, can you pm me and let me know the name of the facilitator?

Lisa

ps: here's a link to read about where to report a facilitator, which includes the better business bureau.

Thanks lisa

Thanks for your input. I know you have woreked with PACT, and I certainly have had nothing but good experiences with them. They have even talked with me about my current situation. I will certainly be open to letting folks know who to avoid if I can't get the facilitator to set things right. But right now I just want to gather info on what my options are and then give her one last chance to behave appropriately. That said (for all the folks who have already PMed me wanting info), if you have a concern about a particular facilitator, let me know. Maybe we can have power in numbers.

I have a similar issue only it's with the agency we used, it's hard to complain when I've got my little joy home and the adoption is final, but they were unethical and I don't know who I should tell. Mind you our facilitator was above and beyone wonderful.

I PM'd you. (And I guessed the facilitator on the first try!)

I think it's time we get people together who have used this particular person and compare notes. Something is really wrong.

Hello. My husband and I were seriously considering 1 of 3 possible adoption facilitators in California. Could you please PM me regarding the "questionable" facilitator? We would appreciate it!

I'm guessing I know who you are talking about. You could contact Brenda Romanchik who was (as of last year still) investigating their unethical practices. Also, please PLEASE PLEASE file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The more people that do (I did), the better chance we have at people finding out that they are HIGHLY UNETHICAL prior to working with them.

Best of luck.

OH! and:

If this facilitator has even one lawyer on staff, you can report the entire group to the state board.

Again, best of luck.

I too know exactly who you are talking about and I am willing to do something about it. I was successful in getting most of my money back but we can not continue to let this woman hurt people the way she does. I know if you put her name out on the yahoo group board under "adoption scams" you get alot of feedback there as well. I agree with Rebecca there is strength in numbers and I would be happy to share anything and everything about my experience, lets pull together.

If it's who I think it is???

She needs to be stopped. As some of you already know, I am STILL trying to get things resolved with her from a situation from over 1 year ago. She is not an adoption professional in any sense of the word. She is a money taking, emotion stomping monster. And she needs to be put out of business. I would LOVE to be part of the group that does that. I agree with nawlinsmom, let's pull together. Please PM me with any questions.

I am aware of a horrible facilitator in Ca. and would like to compare notes. Can you PM the name? I would PM you but I have been unable to PM (or click on anyone's name) for several days, since they started upgrading the forum.

Anyhoo,....the facilitator I am aware of has a group of clients, past and present, who have started a yahoo group for support and to compare notes. Last I heard there was talk about a class action lawsuit. I hope it's the same person as I would hate to think there are two creeps facilitating adoptions and taking advantage of adoptive parents in Ca. sheesh!

So where do we go from here? Is there a place that we can talk and people can share what they are comfortable saying?

I'm open to suggestions here.

Rebecca
