Pneumonia

Hi,
We were offered a situation the other day.
It is a healthy baby boy all around except that he has pneumonia. It seems that all is going well and he is improving. He was full term, csection, 8 lbs, and great apgar scores. He is in the hospital still and will be for a couple more days. Anyone have experience with a newborn with pneumonia. We are accepting the situation today anyway, but just wondering. He is 6 days old.
Thanks

Scooter, I don't have much advice or knowledge except knowing that sometimes babies aspirate at birth and the result is pneumonia. I do not think it is so uncommon and treatable with antibiotics and maybe in severe cases, some respiratory therapy.

I just wanted to say congratulations on the birth of your new son! That is awesome. Cannot wait for you to share more about him, including photos, of course. Safe and peaceful travel if it is required.

Hi Scooter,

Congratulations on your new son. My friend's son had pneumonia at birth. As red said, he aspirated at birth which resulted in the pneumonia. He was in the hospital for about a week then sent home and he's been just fine ever since.

Best of luck.

Michelle

Thanks

Thanks much for your information.
Makes me feel better knowing that it is not a big deal.
Still waiting to hear when we can bring him home.
