Independent adoption questions
My husband and I are starting the process of private, domestic adoption. We’re thinking about trying an independent adoption but have a few questions. What did you do as far as networking to meet your child’s birth mom? I’ve heard suggestions to send a letter to churches, schools, and doctor’s offices. Where else should we send letters? Also, how long was your letter? Did you include pictures?
Thanks, Kelly |

Kelly,
We talked to people at church, family and an adoption attorney. We met our bmom through family...a friend of family friend. We were incredibly fortunate and it has been a wonderful situation. But, we are a true testiment that networking can really work out great. Good luck to you in your journey.

Hi Kelly,
You might want to try a search here on the forums because there have been other threads that give lots of information about networking and you should be able to get some great info that way. I remember reading them and thinking they were very helpful. Try searching for "networking ideas" or "independent adoption networking" and I bet you'll find those threads. Good luck to you in your adoption journey! Cheers! Heather |
