Hi my husband and I are in the tidewater area of VA and are in the process of trying to adopt a AA/biracal infant are there any AA or any couples in this area that are pursuing adoption I would love to hear from you I would love to hear from you all that are in this long waiting my social worker told me I needed to find something to occupy my time (I can't shop anymore) my sister is about to have a fit because she wants to throw this big baby shower my Social Worker told me and my husband today that we may want to consider when the baby is first placed not to have the baby around alot of people I am going to have to not tell my family then because once they know and as excited as they are right now not telling them to come over is going to hurt them but that is not our intentions we just want to do the right thing for the baby I even mentioned the baby shower my sister wants to throw and social worker was not really for it or against it just said that having alot of things around might make me feel depressed with having the wait and all but with what she said about the people coming around once we get the baby sounds like maybe having shower before baby comes might be the best solution I don't know so any suggestions or thoughts we just had our walk-thru on April 1st so now just waiting for our "letter" of approval anyone else joining the almost ranks of waiting this is going to be the hardest part for I am not as sure about "all those AA/Biracial babies waiting for AA parents or any parents for that matter that I heard about before we started I think this might be a long process longer than the application and fingerprinting

I'm not AA or in the area...my dh and I adopted a couple of years ago. I just wanted to say welcome, good luck, and I hope your wait isn't very long.
