Advice on where to go to adopt

We started our adoption process 3 years ago and have a completed homestudy. The agency we were with restructured and we were dropped! The fact that we lost 3 years is unbearable and of course the retainer fee we lost! We are looking on advice for agencies anyone has had experience with that are legit and don't take 3 years! If anyone can help, I would appreciate it! I have been in such a depressed state of mind thinking that maybe is just isn't meant to be!

Thank you

So sorry for the long journey - how frustrating for you. First I would look into recouping some of the money you put into that agency - it does not pass the smell test. Second, what agency will be best for you depends on what type of adoption you are looking for (domestic or international or state, country or race, open, semi open or closed), and any relevant information about you (some agencies are more open to singles, older parents etc). I have done state adoption, independent adoption and am now working with an agency for number 3. Three years seems outrageous to me -

If you share more details of what you are looking for I'd be happy to try to help - but all recommendations need to be made by PM too.

Hi JTD,

I'm so sorry you are in this position right now. Wow!!! I have sent you a PM, also. Our son is almost 14 months old and we have a semi-open adoption.

I'm sure you're going to get lots of help here!!! Good luck!!
