Hispanic culture
We have adopted a hispanic child. I would like to be able to teach her about her hispanic heritage (birthmom is from Mexico). Does anybody know of any books or websites where I could get information?

Help!!
I have a question. If you were going through an agency that was under fire for something that could happen to any agency, would you change agencies? I don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. I know that the question is pretty broad but I will give more details to anyone interested.

Jennifer,
I don't know about any web sites but I do know a thing or two about hispanic culture. I was born and raised in Mexico and we have adopted a hispanic child.
One of the things I have tried to teach my little mexican is to be proud of her culture. I have tried to bring the mexican culture into our home. Alot of my decorating revolves around the culture. I cook alot of traditional mexican dishes (if you need some recipes straight from Mexico let me know). We also bought her a hand loomed rug that was made by the tribe of people she comes from. She will inherit her rug when she gets married. She is very aware that we have the rug and is looking very forward to getting it. We have talked to her about the simbols in the rug and what they ment to her people. I truly believe that we have succeded in teaching her to embrace her birth culture. |
