Have wanted to share this for a while but time never worked out. My husband and I have been 'working on' adopting for a while now but only had our profiles out in circulation for a couple months. On the night of tues dec 7, I took my very last final exam to get my degree (after a number of years out of college). Totally out of the blue wed morning of the 9th we get a call saying there was a baby girl born that morning, if we were interested to be in Georgia (1,000 miles away!) by friday morning! After a serious talk with our social worker here we decided to go for it, it just felt right. Since plane tickets were $900 or so each person one way we drove the 1000 miles to georgia thurs. I wish I could write the whole story but friday morning we got our call at the hotel that mom and baby were ready for us at the hospital, we went, met baby and mom and a couple hours later left with our beautiful baby girl!!! I almost feel guilty as the process was unbelievably easy relative to what we had been lead to expect. She's absolutely fantastically awesome!!
One of the most powerful parts of the whole thing was the brief meeting of mom(other-mom), who had a pregnancy complication and simply had the agency choose parents for her baby, but she wanted to meet us. If it had been up to me we wouldn't have met, fortunatley it wasn't up to me! The love I felt from her for her baby, yet knowing she was doing what was best for the baby, the resigned sorrow was so powerful. The feelngs I have had towards her are a far different love/respect than I've ever known, and I want to do anything we can to honor her roll in our daughters life. She wants pictures and updates which I'm honored to send, and while we are currently "the couple who drove 1000 miles for her/our baby", we do know about her. Hopefully someday we can arrange an open relationship, I want that for them both. Hope I havent' gone on toooo much, but in case I ever had any doubt about whether miracles occur-THEY DO!! We couldn't have written a better script for ourselves! I don't believe I can share agency names here (?) but I'd be glad to share with anyone who'd want to know. If someone can tell me how to put her picture here or where instructions are I'd love to share her! Okay, I'm done, can you tell I'm totally in love with her??? thanx for letting me share! ![]() |

congrats maxkinzie, it seems great! I can't wait to see photos. My guess is that you don't even remember the 1000 miles each way, probably floated on air! enjoy!

I really believe that we a-parents are matched with our children by God. There is no way the system is capable of making families so perfectly. Congratulations. Now how about some specs - wt, length, name etc etc - and of course a picture would be wonderful!!!!
