Texas Adoptions

You can expect to pay adoption fee's of $12,000- $30,000 for a Texas Domestic Adoption through an agency and you may pay about $1,000 or less through the state (TDPRS).

We tried independent adoption in which many people are sucessful at, we just were not. Our angel's Birth Mom was with an agency and we were brought together there.
I suggest The Complete Adoption Book (How to adopt in under a year) it has some very helpful techniques that I found valid and useful. It also lists professionals and laws by state. Adopting In America is also good but I got much more out of the first book.

List what you want to know specifically also. As with any state and any adoption, you must have a completed Home Study (and in Texas, a criminal background report) to be able to adopt. I suggest having that done within
three months of the time the baby you plan to adopt is to be born. In Texas, homestudies expire -- my memory is a little rusty on this but I want to say in a year though if incorrect, then in 6 months. You can of course always have it updated.

I was also very pleasantly surprised to learn that there is a Baptist Children's Home in Dallas called Buckner Children's Home who works both domestically and internationally for extremely reasonable fee's...typical international adoption is about $16,000 anda domestic adoption (which takes about a year) is $12,000. You can adopt a 3 month old or older in Romania, a 9 month old or older in Russia (typically right around a year old), and also they now have a China program in which you can adopt infant's (mostly girls).

Best wishes in finding YOUR angel!
Happy Homemaker

My main concern about adoptiong is the pain she may go through if the adoption falls through. At any rate, time will tell whether or not we are up to adopting again. Long road the first time around and a nasty court battle to boot. Just thinking it would be hard for her to be attached and then possibly detached from another child.
Our Texas adtopion was fairly easy in the court room and I do think that Texas has very good laws in place to protect Aparents from disaster.
I just found out homestudies expire but it really wasn't a hard thing to get done the first time around.
Good luck to all those trying to adopt and feel free to email me or respond here if I can help anyone with the experiences we have had.

I only wish that I had known that my little girl was going to cost them, too. I only wanted them to have the other expenses of rearing...not birthing...this is so unfair to such wonderful people that take the time out of their lives to give a home to someone that needs one. May God Bless all parents that are proud to be "adoptive parents."
