Santa-does he wrap?

when I grew up, santa did not wrap gifts in our house. He just left those unwrapped gifts under the tree and we were thrilled. I guess it was because we were poor and we saved a ton of money (and time) by not wrapping, but it may have been because all those gifts were weirdly shaped.

fast forward to last night where I wrapped my 5.5 month old daughter's gifts-why? don't know. Dh says santa wrapped in his house, but I put my foot down after trying to wrap a rubber duckie and a stacking toy and decided that santa will not wrap ever again. Dh is resisting (of course he doesn't have to wrap them!).

so I need a poll here to convince dh: did santa wrap your toys and does santa wrap your children's toys today?

thanks,

LisaCA

I do not wrap the Santa toys.....mine were never wrapped. My ex thought they should be too, so I pointed out in the movies nothing is wrapped that Santa leaves. Elves would over work themselves if they did.

Well, now I am sitting here thinking maybe I need to wrap all that too and I am sooooo tired of wrapping gifts and not even done with the ones I HAVE to wrap.

Good Luck with Santa

Talking Santa wraps at our house.

Sorry LisaCA, we're going to have to take your dh's side of the poll. In both my house and dh's house growing up, Santa wrapped the toys. (In my parents house, he also put all the decorations on the tree. We didn't see it completely decorated until Christmas morning.) So in our house, Santa wraps the gifts. I do get dh to help however. In fact, he's assembling a train table for Santa as I type. This will not be wrapped; too big!

I hope you all have wonderful Christmas's with your children!

Merry Christmas to all!

Good Morning All!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Santa did not wrap in my house as a kid but he did in DH's. We didn't wrap Santa gifts for our 11 month old son, either. Just laid everything out for him under the tree. Because Santa doesn't wrap...it would take too long, right? Only gifts not from Santa are wrapped. We all came down this morning and our son saw his new toys as if they were imposters and crawled over to his old "friends". Oh, well! Fun for Mom & Dad, anyway! Lol.

Have a great day!!

Santa gifts in our house are the ones in and around the stocking. That said...some are wrapped and some aren't. Most of the items are small and I use the scraps on them and don't worry about fancy. Items that are hard to wrap are left un-wrapped.

If assembly is required, they are not wrapped. After spending 7 hours assembling toys from the boys' birthdays, I could not see doing that Christmas morning while someone whined. Besides, it gives the adults a chance to try out the toys first to uh, make sure they work.

The one year old doesn't unwrap yet anyway, and the four year old is having a blast unwrapping everybody's presents. If it fits in the stocking, it's not wrapped. If assembly is required, it's not wrapped. If it's 2 am and Santa's sugar rush from the cookies is worn off, it's not wrapped. If it's from someone in the family, it's wrapped. Unless it's from DH, in which case it's in the bag he brought it home in.

What is it with 20-30 of those #$!%^ tie wraps on kids toys holding them in the package anyway? I have no skin left on my fingers after setting up 8 Fisher Price and Megablocks toys.

Ok, I'm Jewish but my maternal grandparents weren't and many years we did xmas at their house (although Santa was a wink and a nod). Santa filled the stockings and nothing was wrapped. Presents under the tree were from family and they were wrapped.

Bear in mind as your little ones get older, you will have to have different wrapping paper for Santa gifts and family gifts (one mother I know has a list with Santa gifts higlighted in yellow so she knows which paper to use). I'm sooo glad we decided not to do Santa (DH isn't Jewish).

Santa leaves at least one present unwrapped, though sometimes the small stocking presents are wrapped (am a pro at tootsie-roll-style).

(This way he doesn't need to waste wrapping time on the wierd shaped stuff, but can stick all the square or tootsie roll stuff in the wrapping machine!)

Santa did not wrap at our house but he did at DH's. So we compromised. Santa wraps for Megan but he uses different paper than we do, and the small stuff is put in the stocking unwraped.

wow, sounds like santa does different things for everyone. it appears split roughly 50-50. Okay, so why didn't we notice this as kids? as kids we talked about everything-hmmm...

Peggy, I am totally with you. for some reason, all the baby/toddler stuff is welded into the package, with about 20 different ties that require an engineering degree to open. We finally took wire cutters to one gift, after being totally frustrated.

I was asking my husband yesterday, have we as a society become such kleptomanics that all these childrens toys need to be welded to the boxes? I think it's a little bit of overkill when Dora has twist ties through her bottom where the batteries go.

That said we, wrap. Unless of course they're weird shaped, really big, or small enough for stockings. I think the kids really enjoy tearing open presents. That and we have teen age sons who are snoopers. So at the least they will have a little bit more difficulty if they find my hiding spot. (which I have to change every year and is getting harder and harder to find one.) Oh well, it's kind of fun to match wits with them.
Shelley, whose favorite gift was sitting back watching all 5 of her babies open presents and knowing they were all safe and healthy.

Ok..this is what we did (which is the correct way and everyone else is WRONG!!! lololololol)

We picked one big toy to be from santa and did not wrap that one. The little items in his stalking were not wrapped but we did wrap an ornament in his stocking (only because it looked pretty sticking out if it was wrapped).

The rest of the stuff was not from santa, it was from us and other family members.

Leigh
Merry Christmas everyone!!

In our home Santa gifts are not the MIAN focus.... Parent gifts out number the Santa gifts.

We never wrap the Santa things except for some reason the things in the stocking are wrapped because they need to take some time to be opened so we can get the coffee going....

Usually the gift they asked Santa to bring is not wrapped....and the extra gifts that they got for being sooooo nice all year.

With the older children their father wanted all the gifts wrapped and HE HELPED WRAP them.... But we always used secreat paper and not the same paper we had on the other gifts.... Because when I was a Kid I checked on the wrap and I also checked on the handwriting for the tags and that was how I figured out Santa was not real---My mom writes my name in a special way and no one else ever did except Santa--big tip off.
