We live in California and just brought homes twin girls. From start to finish it took 13 days. I flew out ahead of time to meet the birthmom, and go to an ultra sound appointment, in which we discover their were twins, and she was already in labor. My husband flew out that night. We left the hosptial 3 days later and stayed in an hotel near the hotel.
The positive side... it was the best 10 days I have ever had. We could devote all our time to the girls, we lived on bagged salads, peanut butter and jelly and microwave dinners. We feed, changed diapers and got to spend un interrupted time with our daughter without family dropping by. It helped with the bonding. The maid came and cleaned everyday, and we went to Target to get essentials. We slept when the girls slept, and loved every moment.
Just put aside $$$$$, a two room suite is important so everyone can have some quiet time. When the maid came and the girls and my husband were asleep, I tiptoed in and got the dirty towels, and garbage while she cleaned the other rooms. It really helped us with two.
Now at home... it's reality!!!
Enjoy the process make it apart of the joy of adopting.
