Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I really hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing day.

Anyone have any unusual foods on the menu?

Anyone do anything differently this year?

This is our first Thanksgiving with our new son (1 yr. old). We don't have family around here and we've already been up to see our family twice this month, so we will be dining out at Shari's restaraunt. We usually do the Shari's thing for Christmas day dinner (only place open) as it is so much less stressful not having to go back to a home full of dishes. The only bummer for Thanksgiving is no leftovers. I just can't see making a bunch of food for 2 adults and 2 youngsters. I admit I hate to cook. Anyone else out there dining alone as a family. Do you have any traditions you do when it's just you're family? I would love to hear your stories.

Blessings to you all

You, too!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
This is also our first Thanksgiving with our daughter.
Makes it extra special, doesn't it?

We usually have 35 family members at our house, but the
family keeps growing, so we'll just have a few here today,
then we reserved a room at Ryans Steakhouse for tomorrow for everyone.

Lots to be thankful for this year!

Enjoy!

Melissa

We are doing the Ryan's thing this year too. I didn't want to cook this year as I'm working way too much right now. My in-laws were going to come, but they got too much snow yesterday.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I kind of wish I was going to a restaurant today as I sit here elbows deep in turkey guts. But the things we do for the love of our family. I am the sole cook today for 11 people. (Not too bad considering that I will have 36 Christmas Eve).

The different thing that we are doing this year is that I added a craft to the holiday season this year. My son is 18 months and I figured he could do a little creating with me. I thought that we could make it a tradition. We made turkeys out of oranges, pinecones and his hand prints cut out that he had colored (for the turkey "feathers"). They turned out pretty cute. I am going to put one at each place setting today.

Well Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

happy thanksgiving!

this was dd's first thanksgiving-boy is it different cooking with a baby around!
may go to a restaurant next year:-).

we had 6 of my students over today. these were the students who couldn't go home for the holidays (too far away, etc), so it was fun. We enjoyed cooking for so many and made them bring a ton of food back to the dorm. Normally dh and I cook for ourselves and have a quiet time. I refuse to spend the day with family since no one is on their best behavior (cranky from travel or cooking and cleaning). I'll see them any other day of the year except thanksgiving, christmas and Easter. I know it sounds weird but it works for us and we're all happier for it. my sister lives with my dad and so she has my mom and our "second" mom (a close family friend) over. She can't stand all the work but can't say "no"-she envies my ability to walk away:-).

anyway we had a great time and maybe next year we'll have other non-family members over:-).

and now the shopping starts! We intend to spend tomorrow car shopping rather than shopping for other things, but enjoy the frenzy!

So how many days til christmas? Time to start shopping!

I really enjoyed reading your posts. We had a great day today. I can't say I miss having my arm in turkey guts--lol!

Oh, the door buster sales! It's 11:35 pm Pacific here and I am supposed to get up at 4:30 am. I am a night owl! I don't know how I will do it. Is it really worth that $15 gift card to Meier & Frank and my free J.C. Penny's snow globe?? I guess I will find out at the buzz of the alarm.

Have fun all of you who are braving the sales!

Happy Hunting
