Attorney fees

I am looking for some advice regarding attorney fees. I would like to know what questions I should ask to make sure we are being billed fairly for the work that is done. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Any reputable attorney will give you a retainer letter stating what their billed rate is, and what the minimum increment for billing is - usually it's 15 minutes. They'll also detail what the costs are for long distance calls, copying, mail, FedEx and court filing fees.

Most good adoption attorneys also give you 'estimates' of what it will cost to finalize, and these estimates are usually broken down.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. We are working with out-of-state attorneys, and two of them at that! Not exactly ideal, but that is why I want to make sure I know what I am doing!

Please keep in mind that there could be additional expenses such as Birthmother expenses, travel expenses, (if you have to travel out of state,) etc.
