Looking for agencies in adoption friendly states
I am looking for adoption agencies in states where the amount of time the birth parents have to reverse the adoption (they choose to parent) is only a few days (I had a bad experience with a mother who changed her mind). Could you please PM me with your suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure what are the best but we chose FL rather than our home state GA because the laws were favorable to aparents. We too had a heart break previously.
In FL a bmom can not sign until 48 hours after birth but then it is irrevokable. In GA, once she signs a bmom has 10 days to change her mind. If you go with FL I would be glad to tell you about our agency. They are great. Good luck!! Robyn

Hi Chefnan!
My DH & I adopted through Utah where the bmom can sign 24 hours after the birth of the baby and it is irrevokable in all states. The bfather can sign before the baby is born. It is a very adoption friendly state. We stayed 10 days for ICPC and have recently finalized. Our DS is 8.5 months old now. You can PM me if you want further info.b Good Luck! --Renee |

Legal question here
Let's say that you live in Georgia, your agency is in Florida, and the baby you are adopting is born in Alabama, where the birthmom is (I'm just using these states as examples for my question). Would the adoption be completed under the laws of your home state, the agency's home state or the birthmom's home state? If it's the birthmom's home state (or the state where she gives birth), then it wouldn't matter too much where the agency is located, would it?
Confused and curious. Thanks! |
