HELP! I need an Idea!!

We finalize our son's adoption this coming Tuesday, July 20th. I know what I want to get him as his special gift. When we finalized our 2 daughter's adoptions we bought them BEAUTIFUL Sterling Silver boxes with their name & Finalization date engraved on them. SOOO, I knew that I wanted something similar for our son. Not a Sterling Silver box, but maybe a Beautiful wooden one.

I left this morning to go buy one. I came back LATE this evening WITHOUT one!!! I literaly searched ALL DAY for a Wooden or something not feminine jewelry type box!!!

I FINALLY came across one at of all places a Harley Davidson Shop at the Mall. I'm serious I went into EVERY store! The problem was it had some scratches on it & it was the only one. I did not buy it.

Now I don't know what to do or even what to get. I'm depressed & frustrated! I need something special that we can have engraved. PLEASE HELP ME WITH SOME IDEAS. We only have a couple days!!

THANKS in advance!

Deb

You might search "wooden trinket boxes" on google or yahoo...

Are you looking for something like this?

soooo nice

Hi Deb, I've got an idea, don't know if you'll like it but here goes....
A craft store (ex- Michael's or JoAnne's) usually sells unfinished wooden boxes of different sizes. You can buy one and costumize it and then have it ingraved.
I've done a few, I've stained one and painted one white with little flowers. I hope you can get to a craft store even if you just go and have a look see. Good Luck and Congrats. Sincerely, Rosa

I don't know where you live but many of the crafts people in Idaho make wooden boxes and they show them at craft shows etc. Do you have a Saturday market? Any smaller towns around that have tourist places where crafts people might display things? Oh, do you have a Woodcraft type store? One that sells supplies to woodworkers and cabinet makers? they may know of someone who makes boxes and could personalize it for you. I know that there are wooden boxes out there, it just is a question of how soon you can get it. Good luck.

Things Remembered has items like that. I believe they have a website as well.

Thanks for all the GREAT ideas so far! As I was looking online for these keepsake boxes I came across a Treasure Chest looking one. I was SO excited!

In the song I sing to Caleb one of the lines in it goes like this, "You are once in a lifetime, a treasure near impossible to find..." NOW my new mission is to find a Treasure Chest, large or small. Small jewelry box size up to toy chest size. I will then have segraved that line & then his name & finalization date! I may have taken on an even harder task! LOL

Keep the ideas coming! THANKS!!!!!

Deb

I FOUND ONE! Woo Hoo!! You'll never guess where? Right here in my town! I went to a shop that makes Amish furniture at a craft store. I walked in with a picture showing sort of what i wanted. So I'd be able to show the idea. I walked up to the owner to ask her about the Treasure Chest & out of the corner of my eye I SAW IT!!!

It was PERFECT! I walked over & couldn't believe it! I opened it, looked it all over & was so excited! Then I saw the price! $300!!!! I asked the owner if she could contact the man who made it to ask him if he'd ake a smaller less expensive one. It didn't have to be Cedar like that one was. She called & he said he would make me one for 1/2 the cost!! It's only an inch or so smaller in each dimension. It won't have the fancy trim on the bottom, but that's okay, makes it look more like a Treasure Chest then. I also have to stain it myself. PLUS...he said he can have it done for me in time for the party next weekend!

On the front I'm having I friend who owns a Laser business put in the words to his song, "You are once in a lifetime, a Treasure near impossible to find" along with his name & the GOTCHA Date!!

THANKS for all your help & ideas!!!!! As soon as I get it all done I'll post a picture!

Deb

Hope I'm not too late in replying. We went to Things Remembered online and ordered our son a child size sterling silver I.D. bracelet with his new initials on them (he was 2). We have been meaning to have the inside inscribed with the adoption date.
