Question about your Agencies

I noticed on the thread about listing your agency that some of you have mulitple agencies and multiple attorneys.

Can I ask why? Did you have to pay fees at all these agencies?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

We have adopted 6 times and have had 3 messy, (both financially and emotionally) failures. With all of the agencies, attorneys, and faciliators that we listed on the agency list , we had a lot of interaction with and stories to tell!! Some are good and some are not so good!

By the time we were adopting our 3rd child, I only worked with agencies, etc. that would work with us without upfront monies and "retainer" fees. It's amazing how many will work with you if you are home study ready, and looking for an adoption that will happen in the immediate future! By doing things this way, we adopted our last 4 children without the heartache of the failures we had in between our first 3 adoptions.

We worked with one agency for our first adoption and moved after placement so the first agency found a second agency in our new state to oversee the rest of the adoption.

The second time we were registered with one agency that neworked with other agencies and my dd's birth mom was registered with one of those other agencies.

The third time we adopted we used an attorney who found counseling for the birth mom thru one agency, we did our homestudy with another and went to educational calsses with yet another.

With #4 we did an interstate adoption so we used an agency in the birthmother's state to do the counseling and social services here to do our homestudy as well as two attorneys and two adoption serive providers.
