Adoption Baby Books?

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone knows of a good baby book for children who are adopted. I went to Hallmark today and bought a beautiful baby book. (The kind where you keep track of the important moments of their life such as first word, haircut, eating habits and so on.) But when I got it home I realized that I doesn't really fit for an adopted child from a single parent home. All of the pages say my parents and I am a single parent. It talks about being in my mommies tummy and there is a place for a sonogram. There is also a place for hospital momentos and I may not get my child as an infant. So I was hoping that someone knows of a cute baby book for adopted children. -With wording that could include a single parent. I'm sure many of you have run into the same problem and may have come across a great baby book that works for adoption. Thanks for all of your help in advance!

We definately ran into the same problem. With our daughter I just modified one that I picked up from Babies R Us. My mother-in-law actually found us a great baby book from Target, of all places. It's call "Our Chosen Child". The link below carries this baby book.

Because we have one bio child and because I modified our daughter's baby book, I also used a generic baby book for our new little guy. But I am also filling out two of "Our Chosen Child" for my daughter and son. I just didn't want Isaac's to be the only 'adoption' baby book. So, he and big sister get two baby books.

A second vote here for "Our Chosen Child". I love it.

scrap book!

Dear Bethany B,
I've had the same problem with baby books.....but I found a place online that told me about making baby scrap books and that is what I did. I got one from Wal-Mart and started it with receipts from paying my lawyer and child custody papers.....I did a birthparents page....birth sibilings page....my familys page....cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, great grandparents. I put paper clippings from current events like the war. I clipped car prices, food, and homes to show prices for his birth year. Shower pictures and announcement cards. I took pictures of the process of making his nursery. I did a page with the "name game" on how I came about naming him and even glued the paper scraps with names on it. I did a page of my hobbies, jobs and places I had lived.....pets I have.
This is just an idea for you. I really had a lot of fun doing this for him. It's something you can continue to do as the baby is born with birth announcements, the hospital it's born in....and as the baby grows in age.
I hope this helps you some. And thanks to the others for the links to getting the "chosen one" . I too was having a problem with getting past the "father's" thoughts and family stuff too! Good luck!

Lisa

We also ordered "Our Chosen Child" and it is perfect! It is made specifically for adoptive families and includes places to write when your home study was approved, what you had to go through to adopt, the date you first saw your child's picture, etc.

I highly recommend this book!

I spend endless hours scrap booking for my daughter....her book is totally specialized and tells our families entire story in a very personal way. It is also something that my hands created just for her that I am sure she will always treasure. I think scrap books are far more meaningful than a fill in the blanks book. I have included photos, letters and memorbilia from both us and her birth family this way.

Baby-Life book

There is also a great book sold on Adoption.com web site entitled "I Am Choosen", it is especially good for a single parent. I liked it more than "Our Chossen Child" because of the fact that it was in a binder and I could simply remove the pages that referenced "adopted father, adopted fathers family etc". That is actually one of the three baby books I have going, along with the Halmark babies first year calendar which I adore and I have a niece that is keeping up with everything by doing scrapbooks, she is very creative and much more talented at that than I am. Good luck on your search.

Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas! I will be checking out some of those adoption baby books online. I also like the idea of just making your own scrapbook. I am a first grade teacher and have a degree in fine arts as well so I love being creative! Once I move and finish the baby's room which needs to be done FAST, I will start on making the scrapbook. I may also buy one of the adoptive family ones online and keep two! How fun this will be!
