Letters

Hi,
A good friend of mine and her dh may be moving to Texas before they adopt again and she is concerned about reference letters. If they do move to Texas they don't really know anyone there. Her dh has an uncle or something but they aren't really in each others lives.

All of the family and friends that they are close to live in California and Mexico.

So The question is do the reference letters need to be from local people and if so how does that affect somone just moving who doesn't know anyone locally?
Thanks!
Judy

Judy,

Agencies are more concerned with how well a reference knows the person rather than where they live. It shouldn't be a problem.

Hi

It wasn't a problem for us. We have used references from all over including out of state for all 3 homestudies we have done with 3 different agencies in 2 different states, the agencies never even asked why. I agree totally with tobeafamily, they are looking for how well they know you.
