? re:state adoption. Contact after committee...?

How long did it take for them to contact you after the committee meeting? Same day, week, ... ?

We are one of the families being considered for a child. The committee is meeting (sometime) today. I just wondered what the chances are that we will hear something today.... the waiting is killing me!

I live in Oregon, and we adopted through our state. We were notified by our cw immediatly after committee. She called us when she got to her car from her cell phone. We went to committee 3 times and were chosen on the 3rd time.

Good luck, and I hope you have good news soon!

Thanks for the reply, Heidi.

It is 5:30 pm here, and my sw hasn't heard from them. If they don't call her early tomorrow, she's going to try to call them.

i hope this doesn't drag out over the weekend.

i just want to KNOW! one way or the other.

They must do committee different where you are. In Oregon our worker goes and represents us. There are 3 families chosen to go to committee, each family's worker goes and represents them at committee. When they leave committee , they know which family was chosen. Each family's worker immediately calls their family and informs them of the decision.

Hopefully, you will know before the weekend. The waiting game is the worst. Good Luck

We went to committee 3 times. We were never contacted by the workers, I always had to contact them! We were never chosen, so I don't know if they contacted the chosen family or not.

I've been thinking good thoughts for you all day. I pray that you come here tomorrow and tell us GREAT news! I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear!

We also were never contacted. We had to call them every time. Even when we were the chosen family, we weren't contacted. When we finally got a hold of the worker she was kind of like, Oh yeah, you were chosen....

I haven't talked directly to the child's worker. MY worker is supposed to be trying today to talk to them. I'm going to call HER and see if she's had any luck.

I know I'm pestering her, though... she's really good about getting in touch w/me when she knows something. Oh well, can't stand it any more.

You guys are great!

I called my worker. She was driving into her office and was going to check her voice mail there. They have her cell phone number too (her primary #) so that's how we expected to hear from them. But maybe it is waiting on her at the office.

Golly this is hard!

thanks for the support!

(btw, the child is in a different state, so besides talking on the phone w/her worker, mine has nothing to do with this committee meeting. she's waiting just like I am.)

We were NOT chosen.

Apparently they took 13 families to committee. But the good thing is that they liked our homestudy a lot and are planning to keep it 'at the top of the stack' to see if other matches are possible.

so that's a lead.

I feel better about this than I expected to feel. I am at peace that this child was not meant to be ours. The Lord provided her with a different family, and it is not my place to judge the decision.

Thank you all for your support. I appreciate having a place to come to ask questions and air concerns.

Oh Angelical, I'm sorry. You have a great attitude about this though. Your child IS out there! I pray that you find each other soon!

Remembering

I have been watching yesterday and today the posts on your "committee" and remembering how much it hurt to not be chosen the first time and second and sometimes even third ... knowing we all understand with eyes wide open that all the families presented (I can't believe they took 13 to the table!) can't be chosen ...

Keep the faith and one day it too will be your turn. Sometimes these steps, ever so painful, are the waiting stones ... the child meant for you may not be ready - emotionally, paperwork wise or whatever - and this keeps you positive and going til it is the time. Lots of words here - hope they make sense and are a touch comforting.

Keep us posted on all your search endeavors! Having been there and done this - we understand and care!
