Poll: Who is waiting?

I realize that this forum represents individuals in all phases of adoption. As someone "in waiting," I was wondering if others in this particular phase would care to introduce themselves?

Here's mine:
Who?
Stephanie

What?
Adoptive mom to two little girls, anxiously awaiting our third child

When?
Waiting with one agency since April 2003, with facilitator since December 2003, and networking with three other agencies since early 2004

Where?
Michigan

Why?
Still feel like our family is not yet complete!

Who?
Alison

What?
Waiting for the phone to ring telling us we have been chosen

When?
Profile and homestudy submitted 1/04

Where?
NY

Why?
We were incapable of conceiving and our love is for a family not for genetic makeup. The end result is for us to be together and to raise a family.

Who?
(Has anyone seen "The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer"? With the "You remind of a man..What man? The man with the power/Who-do? You Do!" skit)

Crina & Dh

What?
(This question reminds of those 'Human Bean" folders when I was growing up) Lack of sleep = stress make Crina answer in crazy wayz...

Hopeful, anxious, more than ready adoptive mama to be

When?
Waiting to become a mama all of my adulthood (and some of my childhood, to be honest), but have been actively pursuing the adoption process since last August. (See sig)

Where?
Ohio

Why?
See "when"...the NEED to become a mama has not been fulfilled in any way. And hubby feels the same way about becoming a dad.

Who?
Brandy

What?
I dunno, you asked me so I'm telling ya. (not enough coffee in blood stream).....Oh wait, what was the question? Oh yes....waiting for a child to fill the room I have set up and to share the love I have in storage. Also have a 7 year old wanting to know where his brohter is I promised him 5 years ago.

When?
Started this journey about 6 months ago and got everything done in one month. Now waiting for homestudy then POOF....I wait some more

Why?
Hubby worked with chemicals and it...well you get the picture....I have endo, PCO and no menstrual period. Which I really don't mind so much.... I want to lay in bed at night and hear them both breathing and know they will be there to pull my eyelids open in the morning and ask "can we have cookies for breakfast?"

Just wanted to let you guys know that there is a thread here called "Why aren't there any buddy groups" or something along those lines where a group of waiting moms-to-be are encouraging and supporting each other and just gabbing about various things from infertility to crock pot cooking.

Go check them out and join in if you want!

I'm enjoying getting to know you all! I'm going to check out the thread that Judy suggested, also. It definitely helps to know that we can experience "the wait" together!

Who: Toya

What: Bio mom to 4 year old Taylor and approved foster parent since 2/03; hopeful adoptive mother since always

When: finished first homestudy paperwork with cps only to be told they don't have the man power to do waiting child adoptions. They recommended agency we are currently with. Homestudy approved 4/04.

Where: Virginia

Why: We always wanted to adopt and had already started the process when we discovered our own infertility issues. Taylor is starting to demand a "sista" on a regular basis.

Who
Shannon

What
Adoptive mommy to wonderful daughter Megan age 4 now

When
We have had a web site and had it posted on various adoption sites for 5 months now. Home study updated in February.

Where
Washington State

Why
We love our daughter very much, I love being a stay at home mommy and Megan does not want to be an only child.(and we don't want her to either) Hubby loves being a daddy. And open adoption is a wonderful blessing!

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take,
but by the moments that take your breath away."

Hi Guys!
Who: Cindy and DH

What: finishing homestudy process with DCFS in Los angeles county California, already licensed to foster. Also networking with a facilitator and keeping my eyes (and ears) open

Why: 2 bio sons, undiagnosed secondary infertility (can't find a thing wrong with either of us, although we are definitely older and fatter and praying to expand our family with a little girl (or two) through adoption.

Where: Los Angeles, California

When: FINALLY convinced hubby that we were NOT going to get pregnant no matter HOW MANY TIMES we do it ! (Get offa me already!) In November of 2003. Fostercare orientation Nov 21,2003, Adoption orientation Dec 2003, MAPP classes Feb-March 2003, Licensed for fostercare March 2003, last meetining with SW for homestudy on May 5.

We had I call already to foster, they got the "girl" part right, but she was 16! The boys (10 and 13) thought this would be a FABULOUS match ! I did not.

I was just sitting here thinking to myself, "how long are we going to have to wait for THE CALL?" So I decided to see what was going on here at the site and lo and behold was this thread!! What timing!

I'm Theresa,

DH and I are in Georgia.

We're just waiting on the fingerprints to come back and then we're homestudy ready.

We're working with two different agencies.

We're being shown to an E-birthmom now.

We started all of this in Feb. and it has gone smoothly and much quicker than I expected.

Welcome, Cindy, Jennifer and Theresa. Isn't it interesting how our experiences can be so different, but adoption brings us all together? I am so looking forward to hearing soon about matches taking place with all of us here. I look forward to getting to know you better!
