Our situation is that the due date is May 20 and the birthmom would like at least one of us to be there before so we can meet and she can show us the hospital and things like that. This is her 6th child and she said the last 3-4 have come about two weeks early. Would you try to pick a date a couple weeks before the due date and go?

I would go to meet her asap. You will be surprised at how much easier it is knowing someone in person, not just on the phone. My husband and myself met both of our sons birthmothers before their births. For our first son, it made the hospital and everything else so much easier. With our second son, it gave us peace of mind to meet the birth parents and have them meet us in person. It also allowed us to see the town, hotels, etc. that we will be staying at. Meeting in person just makes everyone seem so much more "real". We are now awaiting the birth of our second son any day...

GO!!!! We had tickets a week before our daughters birth mom was to go into labor and then our daughter came almost 4 weeks early so we missed being there early, but at least we had met our daughters birth mom months before.
So call the airline! GO!

Thanks you guys! I just needed the encouragement I guess. I will make my plane reservation as soon as I speak with the caseworker in Chicago this week!

Okay...as of yesterday the plane tickets are purchased! I'm heading out on the 5th of May and will just enjoy my vacation until the birth mom delivers. With any luck she will deliver early and my "vacation" will be cut short as I'd really like to be home before the end of the month.

Keep us in your prayers (for those of you that pray). The caseworker said this is as solid as an adoption can be at this point, but I know there is still a chance she will change her mind at birth. Our prayer is that she won't!
