I am trying to do an affordable adoption. I know that sounds crazy but I want to be a mommy without having to sell my organs on the black market. LOL
I am wanting to do a private adoption without hiring an agency! I would like to know if you guys have any idea of how to go about doing this.
I know that I will need an attorney in my home state and that I have covered. !

Private adoption sounds relly crazy and very difficult. My husband and I have financial problems and we found one agency in Bulgaria - direct. We have adopted our girl from there and now we are going for the second adoption from this country.
I mean if you try international adoption every country has different laws and I don't know if it is possible to make it private

I think it would help if you could be more specific about what is 'affordable'? Most domestic parental placement/designated adoption situations will involve $4,000 - $10,000 in fees & expenses.

There are situations that involve higher fees - usually mulitiple agencies, paraprofessionals & attorneys are involved and there may be a desire for paparents to pay high living expenses for pbparents. Many of these are 'advertised' precisely because there is a smaller pool of people willing/able to pay these fees.

Costs in domestic parental placement aren't incurred all at once either - the largest single check we wrote was for $2300 for attorney's finalization costs, and the attorney offered to take this in installments if we needed that (we didn't).

You can complete a domestic parental placement adoption without an agency, however you will still need to pay for a homestudy, counseling and post-placement supervision and you'll need to do all your searching/networking yourselves. If you like, I have a list of ways we searched to find our son - just PM. We did use an agency, primarily for support and it was very valuable to us.

A good book on independent private adoption is "Adopting in America - How to Adopt Within One Year" by Randall Hicks. Another good general book would be "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Adoption".

Now, if this is above your range of what is affordable, then you might want to explore waiting child/foster care adoption, where there is little-to-no fees and costs to paparents.
