meeting birthmother----what's legal?
We have been matched since January--due in June and have been talking on the phone most every day. We are going to meet her and the father this week and go to her Dr. Appointment. I know it's legal to take her out to eat but what else is legal? She is an animal lover and we had thought about taking her to the Zoo (inexpensive) but still I don't won't to discover I can't finalize because I paid $5 at the zoo. What else have other's done to form a better relationship when visted a potential birthmother?

Hi,
Before we did anything that involved money or gifts we always ran it by our attorney to get his okay. I wouldn't think that treating her to the zoo would be a problem but it's always best to make sure. Judy |

I agree - just check with your attorney first. Generally, if it's not an expensive trip or item that this person might not otherwise have/experience, it's OK.
For instance, dinner at Applebee's, fine. Dinner at Chez Expensive Restaurant, not fine. Trip to local zoo, fine. Trip to Africa to see wild animals, not fine. Always check with your attorney and have them document any and all expenses for court. HTH Regina
