Oh nursery themes.....how fun!!
We painted our nursery a neutral yellow months ago. We have no idea what gender our baby will be, or when the heck it will happen. I picked WINNIE THE POOH!! I LOVE Pooh!! So, I first picked the wall boarder. ABC,123 theme. I haven't put it up, but I have it. I also bought the matching crib set on e-bay. Then people started giving me stuffed animals and Pooh clothes. But right now, our nursery looks like a spare bedroom. It's too depressing to see a nursery room all day....but I'm always looking on e-bay. Brenda |

Nursery Rhymes!!!
Found a beautiful fabric (called Twall) of nursey rhymes in blue telling a story all over the fabric. The primary rhyme is Hey Diddle Diddle, but the three pigs, mary's little lamb, are in the scenes as well. There were two cooresponding fabrics, a grass green with small white flowers, and a patchwork fabric. I am using the three fabrics to make a quilt, bumper pad, curtains, and other baby things. We match the colors in the fabric and painted the room 4 colors, of grass green, sky blue, cloudy white, and sunshine yellow. The are painted horizontally on the walls, with a blue ceiling. The green layer has shelving surrounding the room with shaker peg hooks to hang things. I have been collecting nursey rhyme things... found cute ceramic book ends of Hey Diddle Diddle, and had an author sign a copy of "The Dish Ran Away with the Spoon" a spoof of the orignial nursery rhyme. I plan on framing some children's literature art (bought a children's books and am going to tear our a few pages). Finally... I found some great stickers at this neat art store... they are the letters of the alphabet with nursery rhyme. G is the gingerbread man, H is humpty dumpty, B is little boy blue... etc... ' I spray painted (actually by dh did for me) an old lamp, and using the stickers to decorate it. It you haven't figured out yet... I am a big fan of children's literature, being a teacher. I have been going through my collection of books, and choose special books for the baby. It's fun finding and decorating. I know I won't have time to do this later on. Darene |

Noah's Ark
We knew we were adopting two and that they would start off by sharing the same room. However, at first we didn't know if it would be two boys, two girls, or one of each. So we went with a neutral yellow. Then for the theme we chose Noah's Ark, because of the 1) promise of our religion and because 2) we liked the animals and 3) we liked the "they came two by two" since adopting two and decorated in animals over each bed for the "two by two" part. Without knowing sex to begin, we chose yellow gingham for the sheets and denim for the curtains and bumper pads and accessories. We used a Noah's Ark border to split the "two by two" animals and it hangs over their beds (within view, but out of reach!
)What a neat idea for a thread, LoriLou! I'm enjoying reading what others have come up with. ~Kristi |

I did whinnie the pooh in my sons room!EVERYTHING is handcrafted.I bought a quilt with whinnie the pooh and his hunny pot on i.it was a stamped crossstich. Then i wanted a top sheet and pillow to match on his toddler bed.I took whinnie the pooh color book and used an iron on transfer pen and ironed it on to white material.I embroidered him a top sheet and pillow case.I even made the pillow to fit the pillow case.I made plastic canvas wall hangings with whinnie the pooh on them.I am right now making a homemade whinnie the pooh bear from felt.I got the pattern online and just printed it out.I LOVE WHINNIE THE POOH.I painted his room a bright yellow.I also came up with decorative ideas to make him a whinnie the pooh lamp.I wanted whinnie the pooh but wanted something noone else had. This has turned out great and his room is adorable. My son should be home in 3 WEEKS!I am sooo excited.

Safari
Not sure if it was going to be a boy or girl at the time we decorated, we went neutral.
We have a beautiful light green room with all safari animals. Lots of giraffes, lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, rhinos, etc. There is quite a bit of fun animal-themed bedding out right now. We chose ours from Pottery Barn for Kids. Had we known a boy was expected, we might have gone with a transportation theme. You know, trains, trucks, planes, etc. |

We are doing Winnie the Pooh too. Hubby has decided he is going to paint 100 acre woods on the walls and he might try his hand at the characters. He says he is really out of practice, so we might end up using the stickups for the characters. We are going with gender neutral colors for every thing else since gender is a big ???. Just thought I would share.

We painted our nursery a really pale pastel blue (almost white) and put up a border with zoo animals in pastel shades of blue, lavendar, yellow and green. The bedding we chose is called "Arcadia" from Babies R Us. It features patches of pastels in satin and chenille, along with a few of the animals that are in the border. The set is perfect for a boy or girl!
Now we just need a baby to complete our room. ![]() |

Animals
We used baby wildlife animals! The walls are a colonial blue and we added a white shelf all of the way around the room close to the ceiling. On the shelf we sat lots of stuffed animals - zebra's, monkey's, lions, tigers, bears, giraffes...... An elephant lamp sits on the dresser and it matched perfectly. We have a beautiful picture of baby wildlife animals with diapers on hanging on the wall. We then had someone paint the same sort of animal mural on a toy chest that we used to store blankets and bedding for the crib. We used primary colors for the room and made the crib dust ruffle, diaper stacker and curtains out of a checkered material. Sheets and bumper pad were solid primary colors. The colors are bright and could have been used for a girl or boy.
We had a boy three years ago and have our first meeting with potential birthmom next week. Hopefully, another baby will get to use our beautiful nursery soon! |

Peter Rabbit
We did our nursery in Peter Rabbit. The walls are a bright yellow and we have blue and white Peter Rabbit boarder around the top. The curtains are baby blue and I took apart a crib skirt and sewed it onto the curtains and around an accent table. I also hand painted three Peter Rabbit murals on different walls. One is with Peter in the raddish garden, another is with Mama Bunny, Floppsy, Moppsy, Cottontail, and Peter, and the last one is just Peter. And, because we have a girl, I put up pink accents. I think it turned out really cute and dosen't look too boyish at all.

Dh and me have decided to paint the nursery in a pale yellow and we just got our Classic Pooh border in last week. I thought that I would get solid colors for the crib and then use Classic Pooh accessories. Dh is planning on putting up shelves in the room. We need to clean out the closet to make room for baby things. I am checking out ebay and things on the web. I love doing this planning and getting everything ready. We are holding off on the actual doing because we haven't been matched yet.

We did Suzie Zoo
We painted the room a peach color and put up wall stickers of all the animals. Which are a yellow duck, brown bear, white rabbit, and a really cool giraffe.
Have also purchased the matching bedding and also bought stuffed animals to match each one. |

Precious Moments
PRECIOUS MOMENTS, TOP TO BOTTOM! :-)
Can't get enough of the precious moments theme. I love the Precious Moments adoption figurine. I thought I was decorating for a boy or girl, but when our daughters birthmom & birthdad came to drop her off, they laughed & said it was a good thing she was a girl, cause it was girly girls room. :-) It's hard to pick just one theme- all the nursery bedding & accessories are so cute! Of course, in a couple of years, they'll want their own theme, but for now, I get to choose :-)
