need information on meth use during pregnancy
I am researching use of methamphetamine during pregnancy. My wife and I considering having our profile shown to a pbmother who using meth daily for approximately the first 18 weeks of the pregnancy (along with smoking cigarretts). Most of the information I find on the net is geared towards discouraging use of meth. I know that different drugs have different effects depending on when during the pregnancy they are used. Does anyone know of good resources that might break down the effects of meth during different parts of the pregnancy etc.
Thanks Bocefus |

If you go to the special needs part of this board you can probably find some good information. I was told that there are not really any long term effects known because it is a newer drug (10 years or so old) so they just don't know yet. But there is information about the immediate effects so just check out the section I mentioned and you should find what you're looking for.

My adopted daughter, now age 5 was exposed to Meth in the womb ( not sure how much) She was a really hard baby, seemed like colic only worse. She had terrible asthma for about a year then it subsided. She was very hard to calm down, cried for hours for the first Nine months, not cuddly. Her gross motor skills suffered a bit. Now she is doing much better, we worked hard with her on the gross motor skills, she is reading 2 and 3 letter words, very intellegent. We went to Attachment therapy becuase she was so hard to hold and comfort, the attachment with us suffered. I think that her brain had some issues and that was part of the problem with attachment also. hope this helps...good luck~
