getting my hopes up
Hello, I have been working to adopt through the state for a year and I have come to a stage where I am so afraid to get excited but I already am and it might turn out to be nothing. Ok, I know that sounds really silly. Long story short, our caseworker has sent our profile through for a sib group of 2 boys and one boy will need to be placed by this Friday. Dare I dream that I could be a mother by Friday? I know it is not just me, hubby has already taken them fishing and camping (in his mind). We are not the only people being considered so that is one strike against us. I have prayed about it and become almost crazy thinking what could be. I almost wish they wouldn't have told us anything until it was a certainty. Its like our whole lives are on hold again and if only......
I am so ready for this journey (7 years) to end. thanks for listening, Kathy |

I am excited with you!!! Just a few questions?
You say your homestudy has just been submitted--have you been told if you are a family being considered for this plcament? Are you Foster to Adopt or straight adoption? You say there are other families interested---will there be a committee or other kind of meeting to determine which placment? There are two boys--one needing placment this Firday--are they seperated right now? Do you have any of the details yet--or is this the first step on these boys for you? I sure hope for you that the wait is nearly over! If I can help please ask!

Not that long ago, I was in your shoes. So I understand the fear of getting too excited, while at the same time getting excited!!! I just wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.

i, too, have been in your shoes. you can't help but be excited, but BEWARE!!! DHS has a habit of not being "completely" honest upfront. ASK why a placement is needed by friday. I hate to say it, but sometimes they are looking for a place to help them out in a jam. i have been there - keep your eyes and ears open.
GOOD LUCK!! ![]() |

Thank you all for replying. I don't have that much info, only because she talked to hubby and he didn't know what to ask. The reason the youngest needs placed is because there is a situation with the foster parents, not him. I am going to call the cw today and see if she can tell us if we have a good chance or not. I'd rather be let down easy then be told flat out that we are not being considered.
thanks, Kathy |
