Question Out of state adoption... How hard?

I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how a state to state adoption works. I am in Texas, but I have been looking into a child that is in the state of PA.....

How much different is the process doing a state to state rather an inner state adoption?

State to state you need Interstate Compact

State to state you need an Interstate Compact Agreement completed. Before the child is allowed to leave the state, and both states' Adoption Regulations are in affect!

Example if PA requires that you be Licensed for Foster Care, and TX doesn't. Then PA regulations take effect!

It's more complex than doing In-state!

I live in Md and an adopting from PA. The interstate compact is the biggest challenge and even that isn't too tough. For us, the regulations of both states were the same, so we were ready. The only thing I can see that could be a problem for you is - our daughter needed a long transition period. We visited every weekend for two months before placement. For us, from Maryland it was a 7 hour drive (which was quite exhausting for 2 months), but they took into consideration that it could be done. I don't know what type of transition your child will require. Other than that, PA was a breeze.
