Printing a business card to hand out to find birthmom
We want to write a card to hand out to friends, friends of friends, any & all who might know a birthmom considering adoption. Please help us... we don't want to offend anyone. Been trying to conceive for 10 years.

Hmmm... check your state laws first. I've heard that in some states, it's illegal to advertise. Not sure if handing out business cards would qualify as advertising, but better safe than sorry, right?
As long as it isn't against the law in your state, I think it's a good idea, personally. I wouldn't be surprised if you got some response from it. You could also put business cards and/ or notices in places with public bulletin boards; laundromats, libraries, etc. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting the word out that you're looking to adopt. Just beware of scammers. Best of luck, ~ Sharon |

I have little business cards, and have handed-out a few. They are simple, and just say Loving family wishing to Adopt, our 800 number, agency number. I hand them out when I am talking to someone about adoption, and they say..."I know someone"...
It is just a simple way of letting people know you are going through the process... and with a basic computer program, Office Depot, easy to make. |

We used VistaPrint, an online service (google it) and got full color cards very inexpensively! Select 'slowest shipping' on their 'free card' offer and it's less expensive than printing them out.
We handed out quite a few business cards, as did our friends. We left them lots of places - restrooms in movie theaters, airports, on pay phones, gas pumps, gave to waitstaff at restaurants, left on ATM machines, etc. The cards resulted in one other family being made (bmom's friend found card at Wal-Mart, she called me after we connected with Ryan's bmom so we sent to our agency who connected her with another family). It's also a great way to feel you're doing SOMETHING do help find your child. HTH Regina, AMom to Ryan Joshua Thomas

We made our own "family"cards with cards from office max and our color printer. It has our toll free number, email address, picture and web site on it. Agencies in MN are really encouraging aparents to do this. We have been handing them out, leaving them at stores, mailing them out, etc. since September. So far no luck. Everybody I have given them to seems to think it is a good idea.
Good luck! |
