Finished Home Study!

Just wanted to share the good news that we completed our home study last week. We should be officially approved in the next couple of weeks. It is nice to be one step closer to being parents.

Our only concern now is how long will we have to wait. Our agency has told us that some couples wait 2 years or more. We are hoping to be matched with a birthmother sooner -- this year would be great!

Take care and good luck to all,
Dee

Congratulations on your completed homestudy! Two years does seem like a long time. I wonder why so long?

As long as your agency is presenting you to potential Birthmothers now, there's no saying how long the wait can be. It just all depends on when a potential Birthmother picks you and if you are comfortable with the match.

Good luck to you! Try not to get discouraged. The waiting is the hard part...well I should say it has been for us!

Two years seems quite a long time...What kind of agency are you going through?

Thanks

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and replies.

To answer the questions about our agency and potential wait: We are going through a small, private local agency. They get about 20-30 birthmothers per year, so they encourage prospective adoptive parents to network and search for birthmoms on their own. The average wait is 18 months, but some couples wait longer and others are matched quickly. I guess we will be matched when the time is right. At least we have completed another step in the process and can one day look forward to finally becoming parents.

Hi Dee1234 -
Congratulations on your homestudy being completed!

We are in our 24th month of THE WAIT (after 2 disruptions) but we know so many who have brought their little ones home in a much shorter time. Our agency said average 18 months as well but we know several of their clients who waited well under 9 months -- and a friend of ours waited only 2 weeks!!

Yes, you will be matched when the time is right and I hope and pray for you that it's a very short wait!

Good luck and keep us posted.
TJ
