Questions Re: Adoption Procedures
I AM CURRENTLY A FOSTER PARENT IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA AND MY SPOUSE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO NO LONGER BE FOSTER PARENTS AND TO JUST ADOPT THROUGH THE COUNTY. MY QUESTION IS DO YOU HAVE TO BE A LICENSED FOSTER PARENT TO ADOPT THROUGH THE COUNTY. I WAS GOING TO CANCEL MY LICENSE AND MY WORKER TOLD ME TO WAIT UNTIL AN ADOPTION CAN BE FINALIZED. SHOULD I DO THIS? I'M NOT SURE.

Hi ColleyML
I don't know the answer for you but I was just thinking two things....one was if the social worker recommended it, that might help I guess if you did keep it, and two, you might try posting your question on the individual states board, on California's site....
Someone reading over there on the California page might know... Best of blessings to you, Melody |

Yes, you would still need to held a foster care license through the county. Instead of just fostering you would go into the fost/adopt status which means that you would foster a waiting child until you were able to adopt him/her.
