Hello all....me again,
My husband and I are attending an orientation tomorrow at the Independent Adoption Center in CA. I've read some negative reports on the agency, and actually know a couple who adopted through this agency and did not have the best experience....it was a very long wait and they felt semi misled. My question is: Am I crazy for giving them a chance? Of all the agencies we've researched they seem to offer the most service for the fees. I guess I keep thinking that my experience will be different. Am I just very naive? Maybe I should be concentrating on finding an agency without all the bad press? Any advice would be appreciated. PS Thanks for reading and providing me this outlet. I'm going kinda crazy here and it's nice to feel the support I have felt with this site! |

agency
Hi,
I have a similar experience . i heard many great things on the adoption forum about the agency that I decided to use. However I ran into an old friend and told her that I was adopting-she informed then that her 2 kids were adopted(I hadn't a clue). She then asked me what agency I was using when I told her she said that her 2nd child's adoption was through that agency and she felt like the agency wasn't honest with her and told me to be careful. Her child has several health problems (issues-serious). she feels they weren't honest about the birth mom -drug issues) She then recommended some other agencies. Well I decided to go with them anyway. I felt good vibes when I talked to the director. I went to a group session (pre-adoption) and i went for an orientation/interview and I met the director. I still feel good about my situation. Some people have good experiences some have bad. I suggest that you should research a little more then go with youre gut. Maybe check better business bureau. Make sure you ask questions. I asked today- without revealing my friend or saying your agency. I asked about drug use is it disclosed with baby's born? Can my pediatrician examine the baby etc. She said told what reports are disclosed. No i couldn't have my doctor examine the baby because of privacy issues, etc etc. So please ask questions and go with your gut. Do you feel like they answere the question, skated around it, is anything in writing, policies, etc |
