... I thought I'd get in on the act, as well! See, we've got our girl's name, but the boy's name is a bit of a problem. My husband and I have narrowed it down to our favourite SEVEN. Can you believe?? SEVEN!! So, we need help -- here they are (the middle name will either be "Marcus" or "Robert," depending on which one sounds better with the chosen name):
Graeme (pronounced "Graham") Tristan Rhys (pronounced "Reece") Nicholas Ryan Corey Evan So there you go. (The weird spellings are because the names are English -- which is where my husband is from -- I promise, we're not trying to be obtuse! )So ... anybody like any of those? Your help is greatly appreciated! Indecisively, K. |

I happen to like Corey the best. However, I would like to make a comment on the name Graeme. I know someone from England who has this name but it's spelled Graham.
Now, don't shoot me but when I see the name Tristan it reminds me of Trista who was The Bachelorette. JJ (who is once again running and ducking) |

Love your 'top 3' - my top 3 included 2 of them, Graeme and Rhys, spelled as you have.
In my town I know two guys named 'Reece' - much prefer the Welsh(?) spelling; very unique Graeme - easy to pronounce, masculine, not overused Tristan - becoming overused I think All in all, I think you have great choices! Babs |

Graeme
Because I am scottish.... Graeme is a very powerful masculine name and the other poster is right it is not overly used. All my children have old Scottish/Galic names. I have yet to meet another Brigette or Sheila. I love the older names. Hugs Melissa |

Decision,
There's a Bridgette on these boards and there's two in the town I live and I know quite a few Shiela's. It surprises me that you've never met anybody with those two names. I live in Canada so maybe they are popular here. Stacy

Tristan is SO out ...
Okay, Support2Adopt, that did it -- there is NO WAY I'm naming my kid something that reminds people of Trista of the Bachelorette -- I hate hate hate those shows!!! Thanks for letting me know!!!
As for the rest -- thanks so much -- Graeme seems to be the most popular one so far with our friends, and is my husband's favourite -- I may have to give in, because I chose the names if it's a girl (Alexis Honor -- Alexis is my mother's maiden name, and Honor's just a name that I love!). So, any other ideas? I'm still open to other boy's names... thanks, guys, you've been so helpful!K. |

I have always loved the name Nicholas and in fact almost decided to use it before we chose Elijah. I like Ryan too.
I don't like the different spellings for Reece and Graham. They just look awkward to me. Anyway let us know what you decide. BTW- what is your girl name? Judy |

HAHAH Tristan totally rememnded me of Trista from the Bachelorette too. heheh
Do you live in the US. If so, I would have to agree with the unusual spellings not being that great. If you hadn't written what the names were besdie them, I never would have guessed right. But if you are in another country it might be more recocognizible. That said I really like Graham Robert, or Evan Marcus (Of corse it also depends on your last name as well.) Brenda |

Weird spellings ....
... Tristan reminded you of Trista too??? Goodness. I never watched the Bachelorette, so it never dawned on me. So out. So, SO out.
RE: weird spellings -- they're actually very common spellings in the UK -- in the UK, our friends would laugh at us if we spelled "Rhys" like "Reece!" Funny how it's different in different parts of the world. For now, my husband and I live in the US -- but at some point, we'll probably live in the UK again as well. So, I suspect no matter HOW we spelled these names, we wouldn't win! ![]()

Baby names
Hey girls. I have always been afraid to share some of my names because they might catch on too fast and then you've got four Brittneys in your daughters class. No offense. My cousin's daughter is Brittney. And so is my friend's...and so is my other friend... and about ten in my son's first grade building.
Okay....here goes! I have always wanted to name a girl Tatum or Tuesday! Tatum because it means to bring cheer to others. And Tuesday because I tease my mother-in-law, Ruby, about her future granddaughter being...yeah...you guessed it! And my boys' names would be Sean-Morgan (double name), Keifer (my husband lost a bet and I could have used it on our six year old, but didn't because of his wishes), or Sayer, or Samuel! My little brother's name is Samuel De Sean which is why I like those boys' names. Oh, and when my Clay was to come and I hoped for a girl...I first thought of Daisy (meaning eye of the day). Now, ya'll don't use my girls' names, okay? Shelli |

Isn't it funny how names roll back around like styles? Julie ann as I told you in another post is on a comeback! Julia, Julianna, etc... Don't you feel special?! I've got one for ya! My mom was 15 when she married my dad. And that's the age she is today! Well, she named us all as unusual as she could. Shelli is not even part of my name. My birthname is Rhonda Michael Merryman. And she was supposed to call me Mickey after her best friend, Mary Michael. Well, it didn't happen. My Memaw hated me having a boy's name, so she just always called me Shelli. It's a pain with legalities (bank accts, bills, credit card, driver's liscense!).

Great names and love the originality of some of them. Please keep in mind how your son will have to deal with the name you choose for him as he grows older. Imagine how many times he will have to spell out some of them. Imagine him sitting in a dr's office and the new little nurse trying to say Graeme or Rhys. I love those since I have a brother in law named Reece. Just keep in mind what he will have to deal with.
My name is Gwen and all my life when someone says " whats ur name" my automatic response is "Gwen...G-W-E-N" . I am always called Glenn or Quin or even Twin!!! And if it isnt written out perfectly I have been called Given!!! I love my name now but growing up I hated it . I was called Gwennie the pooh and PenGwen and many others. In a perfect world our names would never be butchered, unfortunately, like the commercial says, "WE live no where NEAR perfect"!! Gwen |
