New here....Checking out possible scam??

Hi. I'm trying to check out someone who has contacted us about adopting her baby. Her name is Leigh Dutton from Idaho Falls, ID. Her email gives the name of "Jennifer" Dutton. She gave me her phone number, which we have confirmed is in Idaho Falls and that it's really her number. She's not asking for any money, but the thing(s) that concern me are this:

1) She says the birthfather (her fiance) died from injuries in a car accident 2 months ago. I've searched the internet and can find no obituaries and/or news stories to confirm this.
2) She said she was 12 weeks pregnant, but when I asked her due date, she said she "wasn't very good with dates" and would have to look at her paperwork for the exact date.

Things just don't seem to add up here. Has anyone heard of her or a similar story from someone in Idaho? She could very well be legit, but I would like to hear from others as well......

Thanks!

I've heard the "Birrthfather got killed in a car accident" story many times in the past when it comes to scams.
What I would suggest at this point is to recommend to her to contact an adoption agency or attorney in her area, then have that individual get in contact with whomever you are working with. If she is for real, she'll follow through.

I agree with JJ

You need to listen to your gut feelings on this one!!! I would get a good Adoption Attorney and have her call them. I wouldn't give any money at all!!! I know there are some people out there that like to mess with people that want to become parents..So be careful and call an Attorney!!!

Hi,
I agree with the others! You don't want to handle this on your own. Have your attorney talk with her or refer her to your agency.
