I am looking to adopt, but i did not go through a private agency, i went through my local department of social services. I am homestudy approved but finding children to adopt has been very hard. I check with serveral private adoption agencies and the fees are so high, i just can't afford the 10 and 20 thousands that they are asking for, i guess thats why i went through the dss goverment, it cost nothing. But i have not been matched with any children yet. I would like to know has anyone here did adoption other than private or international. those cost to much. but i have been looking on my own for birth moms, but have not had to much luck with that, I am still searching but i would like to know have anyone adopted or is adopting, without being fincainally boggled. Please i need all the help i can get and we do want a child to love and grow with, but private adoption is just not in the budget, although if i had it like that i would.

I know what you mean, we are with Social Services right now and at times it can be very frustrating. Just remember that if you aren't matched right away it doesn't mean they don't think you'll be a good parent it's just that that child matches with someone better and your child will come along eventually.

I know this is hard to beleive but if I didn't beleive it I think I'd be crazy right now. (Oh wait, I am crazy) well, anyway I'd be crazier. LOL LOL (Sorry I just had to throw a joke in)

Anyway, we are also getting started on a private agency and money is really tight for us too so my sister and aunt are having a fundraising dance for us. It's really thoughtful of them and I know if they hadn't said they'd do this we'd have to get a loan.

Do you have any friends or family that can fundraise for you?
